How about if scouts got their own selection mask (like how civilian and military ships are distinct now)? Kind of annoying when you get to the end of a great battle and realise that some Noq'Duj you accidentally selected stole all the kills (because it is so awesome).

A more realistic situation is your fleet of death goes into battle and your scout gets blasted.

I often accidentally decloak scouts and end up noticing them and thinking "yay, extra firepower."

But I would like to have to intentionally do that since I often lose my scouting because of that extra firepower being out of place when the fleet leaves.

I support Megadroid's Idea...he always has the best ideas. Besides, I've experianced similar problems.

yes, i give my support to this idea as well, i think many of us have experienced the ambitious noqduj that cant even gain ranks.

we could add the scout ships to the same 'selection pool' as the construction ships. don't think there is need to add a 3rd pool just for scouts :)

I think that would probably work well Doca :) I can't think of any problems right off the bat with that

does anybody enjoy selecting constructors?

the only time i would drag select civil ships is to get all the miners away, but even then thats tricky as even 1 of them refusing the order due to unloading or something will force all the others to reject the order and stand still awaiting death. so usually i select them with more micro.

Hm, I've never experienced that issue before  :sweatdrop:

really, i find that if i select all miners at a moon, and give a move order to somewhere, then those that are docking wont leave, and those that are mining will stop and do nothing lol.

Hi all,
i have some random thoughts about the ideas:

1. The scout is a bit problematic i think, because all in all its a fighting ship. Could it be possible to set them on "run straight back to mama when get hit" ?  ^-^ That would be at least a method to keep them out of battle.
2. Why not make a script that you can use (like the dominion sensor sweep) to call miners back to base.

And to add a little bit new why not let the miners to be able to dock at the miningstation to add a bit more that can be fired on? At least this would help to let expansions survive the 2 seconds longer befor the troops arrive. But thats only the age of empires way do save workers.

I agree great idea with the scout selection if someone really wants his scout in action with a fleet he can add it by holding down the shift key and left clicking on it.

As for the idea from ZimmerFlak. It sounds interesting but should be limited to a starbase and specific range around it. In the Starbase itself there could be a new button added to like settle around SB.
Would be a similiar system like in Age of Empire or Empire Earth, Rise of Nations etc.

However I'm not sure if double clicking on a specific miner group and ordering them to the SB wont go faster. I'm pretty sure it will be faster which makes the button pretty much useless I guess.

I think this great idea as well.

Give the scouts phasers and have them use subspace fields.  That way, the extra firepower will be worth it.  Plus, subspace fields are not blocked by shields.

Actually, scouts should be in a different selection group.  I've run into a problem of the scout going into battle.  It's the first ship that gets destroyed in large fleet battles.  Or captured, or both.
