Hi guys.

I've been messing around with FO screenshots and I think FO would look a little more "real" with a bit more saturation.

Its just an idea. I'm not even sure if you can do that easily.

Is it even possible to do?

Anyway even if it did work you might need a different balance of contrast and brightness.

I probably don't even know what I'm talking about. :P

That's my 2 cents.

Isn't that in options --> graphics settings?

No its not.

It would make a good option for adding to the Graphics Settings though. Instead of just a blanket change, gives people the option.

You don't often see a "Saturation" slider in games. "Brightness" is quite usual, but a saturation one is new. Also means you can slide it all the way down and play in black and white. Captain Proton mode, anyone?

As much as I hate to criticise an otherwise interesting idea, I can imagine there being problems with distinguishing between teams when playing the same race.

If you can control it or replies to fleet select, it's yours. If not, it's the enemy.

While sufficient in a 1v1 match, this method of owner identification becomes more complicated in a team game, and is more or less impossible for any observer.
I guess this would only happen in the extreme case of greyscale only colours though.

The tiny ship icons that replaced team colors on the models could probably be made to keep their color when greyscale is in full effect.

That would help a lot. Perhaps if colour saturation affected only the actual 3d objects, leaving the interface overlays as they are now.

edit: this could be an interesting combination with team colour weapons if they could remain active  :D

Hey I like that idea!

Anyway between adjusting saturation and contrast. (I did add sharpness to) FO looked alot more real. Like the different colors of torpedoes stand out but at the same time but still were only in their one spot instead of being sorta blurry.

And don't get me started on the backgrounds and planets. :P.

I could post a attached screenie if someone wants to see.

A slider would be perfect. Because some moniters display more
Color
Than others. It would be up to the players disgression.
