psst psst, peace
Yep, the Saber Class overing coverfire to an allied ship does not take extra damage or gets bumped as a more interessting attack target. As Quatre described, the idea is more like a MG Coverfire
Mixing Sabers with enabled and disabled Hyper Impulse Drive might lead to an interessting force, as Sabers without Hyper Impulse get a short-term offensive bonus while affected by coverfire. And veterans even get photons!

i wonder what the perfect ratio of hyper enabled sabres to non hyper sabres is.
Keep more switched on and cover fire triggers more.
Keep more off and they keep the 2 o value always and when cover fire does trigger, they get a lil more.
I'd try half and half.
Does the extra offence use a replaceweapon? Ie if a sabre without hi on gets hit by cover fire, will a replaceweapon be used and the sabre suffer from amnesia? If not then leaving hi off could help ease micro.

There is just the problem of the speed. The Sabers without will be far slower then the with. And because of the resetbug you can't change the Hyper Impulse Drive in the moment when you allready attacking.
But it is an intrestig idea. But you will risk to loose more Sabers to torpedos and pulses

is that the bug where cover fire causes sabres to forget their orders cause of replaceweapons and randomly stop?

No you dont ignore stuff you feel isnt worth posting in, you post in anything and everything wether you know anything about it or not and half the time you just re write what people have already posted.... you just make it longer and more boring.

Yeah it can be a seriously micro-intensive thing to try and deal with. The nice thing is that the Sabers are indeed so long in range and don't require TONS of micro themselves when you're actually attacking. sometimes you can stop microing your fleet just long enough to get a Saber out of the way

you have no idea what you are talking about and you are quite rude, i wont respond with hostility though, as i have a sneaky feeling that an argument is what you actually want

i do ignore certain posts (i'll pm you some examples if u wish, i dont want to be rude), most posts have value though, and most deserve discussion on some level.

That's the bug where the cooldown for Hyper Impulse resets when affected by Cover Fire
