Rotation of station

Hi there. I suggest to make some stations avaible to rotate (90° steps) with a hint, where the 'entrance' and the 'way out' is.
This would be good for mining station, shipyards and other stations, that build ships or make them able to dock on them. I find it sometimes a little bit confusing, when my ships should go *down* but the are released upwards the map. It is a small, but nice feature I think, because you reduce the overall confusing around the stations a little bit.

i have been working on that feature sometime back but weren't able to implement it yet. it is definitively possible and also on todo for a future version.

I believe that has to be hardcoded, especially as it is an infterface-task (seems complicated to me). An additional parameter for the orientation in the odf's has to be added too. Good feature request though. But please not for 3.0.7 there are more important tasks for the next patch (borg balancing, OOS).

Isn't the SOD involved in rotation?

no, the sod itself is irrelevant to rotation. a station can be turned the same as a ship with engines. just like the 8472 mining "station" (or whatever) in stock armada did. it's just not possible to rotate a station on build (yet). and yes, 3.0.7 is going to be focused on bugfixes/balancing

Part of the Science Station in stock rotates, the odf is identical to other research stations.

yea, thats model based rotation, but i think what sheva was referring to is setting a rotation position before an building is constructed so that you can for example have a shipyard where ships enter it for repairs from the "north" instead of the "south", same goes for mining stations etc

Yeah. Well it's certainly possible for stations to face other directions. You can do that in map editor, but ingame... it' would be a cool feature, if possible.

I agree.
This would be a much needed game play function in the game.
I've been frustrated several times sending my fleet to repair only to find the ships competing for space to line up at the pump.
