Rom Mixed Tech

Forgive me for I have sinned. I was looking for an image of a Romulan converted D7
and then I started thinking.

I don't know how the mixed tech alliance is going to work, so for the sake of argument I'm going to assume that somehow, in the beginning of the game I can solicit a 'Mixed Tech' trade with my ally before any real fighting has started.

Because

The big problem with playing the Romulans is of course ship costs. I was thinking, if my ally is the Klingons will I get to build cheap, Plasma spitting D7s? I can't imagine the Klingons would have actual technology upgrades that the Roms would be particularly interested in. On the other hand, a couple converted destroyers could ensure my pricey tech center doesn't get destroyed before I can afford to put up real defenses.

I do have to admit though that its the gluttonous side that wants to see those orange wings. Sadly it would also plunge FO into the shadiest wound in the canon's legacy.

Well said.

I have a feeling though, that the ship will be more modern and enough of a benefit to warrant capturing a construction ship.

The Klingons would have tech upgrades that interests the Romulans, they just wouldn't get it via trading.
