I don't know about that fusion thing. I didn't really like it in A2 and I don't think of it as a Borg thing anyway. Why would the uber-efficient Borg build "small" ships to have them at some time build a bigger one? A waste of resources to build like eight ships with transwarp drives and phaser relays and so on just to have them end up as one ship with eight transwarp drives and phaser relays in places where you could only use them to cut your own ship apart. Doesn't make sense  :ermm:
Maybe you could argue that eight transwarp drives are a perfect failsafe but I'd still say that we haven't seen or heard of a regular Cube which has lost its one transwarp drive in combat.
Borg wouldn't do that, I guess. Fusioning, clustering sounds more like Noxter or Ciadan to me

As I recall the devs did not like fusion :)

FO fusion also made little sense. How did a Diamond and a Cube fuse like that?

It was an experimenting phase to decide which older features will be in- and ex-cluded of following versions, I guess  :sweatdrop:

Yeah if you really want to see cube fusion, go download the FO 2 patch.

The fusion cube was awesome, it had a torp that instantly removed shields from the target.  Of course you had to micro the heck out of it to get it to fire on different ships each time.

But to be honest, there was no other reason to build 8 scout cubes.  And back then cubes themselves were cheaper and weaker.  The regular cubes we have today are basically what fusion cubes were back then.

I actually do agree with a diamond fusing with a cube.  The pinnacle of massive 'regular' borg technology meets the incredibly rare example of 'elite' borg.  The borg would prefer not to expose their leadership to danger, and the only hull 'safer' than a diamond is a tactical cube.  Aside from removing the vulnerability and unlocking some rare awesome abilities, having the diamond and cube separate should actually provide more combat ability overall.

to be honest the Borg are not all that Efficient or the would only Build Cubes as all other shapes waste space even the sphere  the Cube is the most efficient shape.  but i cant talk much as in my fanfic the Mother of all borg ships is a Saucer.

how is a cube the only efficient ship?

why build a cube when a sphere can do the job?

all the extra power of the cube would go to waste.

its possible to finish a 1v1 before u make diamonds/cubes.

The cube is not the only efficient ship.

A cube lasts longer in combat than a sphere when facing a fleet of a couple dozen ships.

Not necessarily, if you put a cube against a couple dozen ships, you can do some great damage to that fleet.  Especially if you have torpedo modules on that cube which will penetrate the shields of any vessel.

Yes.  Make a few scout cubes and probes and attack the enemy mining freighters.  The enemy will have to replace those mining freighters before building ships to counter your fleet (or lack there of).  In the mean time, you can build more powerful ships to finish your opponent off.

Actually, I believe a pyramid(a 3d triangular shape) is the most efficient and space saving shape. :sweatdrop:  It is the most sturdy, and compact nomatter how big it is.  and you can stack them like cubes, but more at a time and in many different ways..

who needs to stack ships, they are ships, not tins of cat food.

 true, but constructionally speaking, a triangle is tha strongest shape, and therefore I think its safe to assume that a pyramid is the strongest 3D shape.

the borg pyramid isnt a true pyramid, it is a square pyramidal frustrum.

it probably loses some of the advantages of a triangle.

yeah I know that :p the whole point is that, if they were perfect, then all they would use is there perfect ship, but they aren't, and ships do have specific purposes.

And tbh the borg would be really boring if all they had were a bunch of differently sized pyramid

Due to popular demand, there might return a little bit of fusion with the Borg Faction redo which we are working on just right now :) But it wont lead to a super duper fusion Cube or a similar combat device

Merge two miners to produce a docking-free miner?  :)
