Resource Storing Facilities

I was thinking; would it be possible to have facilties that create then store resources they create for use with special abilities.
For an example, let's say there was a Species 8472 NPC base that summoned their ships in (like the starfleet command). Now 8472 don't use dilithium and tritanium, they use bio-matter. Now of course, Biomatter is not a map resource, so it has to be generated. To achieve this, the facility can work like a recycler, with buttons for ttransmutating dilithium, tritanium or supplies into bio-matter.
Instead of the resource number for the biomatter being on the GUI, it is shown on the facility's command bar itself somehow. Then, as the player calls in ships using the facility, biomatter is used. WHen you run out of biomatter, you need to spend resources to get more.
So essentially, were talking about a station that can generate a resource, store it, and then have the player use it. This could perhaps be made like special weapon energy, so the transmutating buttons spend resources and generate energy, and the ships require energy for construction.

Very interesting idea but at the moment i don't know how this could be possible. But i will check it

What if the station stored things as special energy, so the station has a weapon that decomisions a ship and somehow recharges its special energy based on the size of the ship (station would start with zero special energy) then you could use special weapons that require energy to say bring in a ship.

if this can be done would that mean if i were to destroy an enemy storage station some/ all supplies would be missing from the supply pool. nice idea regardless
