Resource Storage

Is there any chance some kind of Silo (with a big defense value and modest crew) could be added in to hold mined resources instead of them vanishing into the abyss until used? About 1-2000 per Silo.

Taking the station would take the resources inside it, and destroying it would cause you to lose them.

the idea of storing resources in fleetops isnt really useful as there is no cap on how much can be stored.

if they introduced caps on how much u can store at your mining facilities. then maybe a separate storage unit could be useful.

so i'm for a storage system, and i'm for a move to a resource system where u can only hold a certain amount of resources.

maybe the starting resources could be the caps?

but this would be a very hard change to make.

i liked the system in total annihilation, where storage was low at the start, but could be built. and that construction deducted res per second, instead of all at once at the start.

what is a storage good for when most ppl keep producing stuff? If your resources are high you usually have not enough yards! However it could be nice for a economic gametype where you need to collect amounts of resources.

I like the idea, as one guy on tunngle pointed out (paraphrasing) "how does that tiny scout hold all that res?" (venture was the only ship of a player with thousands of dil and tri.)
I think the mining station should be enlarged a little, and given about 3000 dil and 2500 tri storage. With a silo being a bit more and a bit larger (maybe 4000 dil and 3000 tri.) If this was combined with the on-moon mining stations idea, this could lead to a rather complicated economy, but I think it would look cool to have all these stations and really show just how important mining is.

And for the Borg?  The faction with ships that can cost 5k of a single resource...each?

No reason they couldn't have larger storage stations. The freighters can hold much more than other races. As long as you have space, the mining rate won't be affected at all.

What if the storage facility had an effect on how fast ships were produced?? If the yard is outside the storage facility range then ships are constucted at a slower rate than if the yard is in range.

i prefer the storage on the starbase like in armada 1 if you wanted more officers you researched it.
