One problem I had with the normal game mode of a2 in a skirmish is that one would run out of restores if the game went to long.

I found the solution wile playing Home world 2 in HW2 they leave some dubere be hind after a ship has bean destroyed. The problem they seem to have with that idea in HW2 is the game slowed down after long fight do to all the new polygons added.

My idea is to have some dubree/restores left be hind after a ship core explodes but done in a way they dose not use 3d element. maybe the remades of the ship could be in a gazes state?

umm....doesn't fleet ops by default (and no other option) have only unlimited moons? So...wouldn't this take care of yur problem?

Yes but by having the reassures moved to heavily contested sectors makes the game more changeling.

This would be a alternative game mode I failed to mitten that.

You could also add a new upgrade option for this mode armored reassure collectors.

I like this idea a lot: I always find that resource collecting is waaaay too slow and this would allow us to want to win territory all the more. Imagine if you will... a large amount of wrecked ships, each "mineable" in a portion of the map. It would provide an incentive to hold this area and spend the time to reclaim dilithium and tritanium, as one would get more resources than a person who stayed in his/her  base. Likewise, it would cause base rushing to drop since, if you fail to destroy the person's base... and lose a lot of ships... you would only be giving a boost to that person's economy.

WOA. Never thought about that...puts a new perspective on things. I don't know if any of u guys played Hegemonia, (great game, in my opinion) it was kinda like that. If yur ships got destroyed, yur enemies could come and mine the remains of some of them. Mind u, not all of them were mineable after they blew up... I think only big ships did that a certain % of the time...

That's an even better spin to that Auxillo
Certain class ships should be mineable... and only a proportion of the time. Or... each class of ships should have a different proportion assigned to them maybe.

Hmm...why not using the Ferengie for that? As Freelancers they could "harvest" the material left on the battle field into a dematerialized form (like ordinary freighters) and take that as money to buy more profitable (in there eyes^^) things at your trading stations. Say...they pay with Dilithium or Tritanium which will store up your overall amount and they get ...say.. some random like materials like Romulan Ale or Replicators etc. This would also solve the polygon problem as left polygons would continuously be taken away.

To bring some final spice into that you could bring a bit of a business flair into it. The player who offers the better or cheaper Ale will stand high in favor of the Great Nagus and so most Ferengie Freelancers would prefer to dock at your stations.

Btw... I feel the strong tendency that people would like to see more ways of gaining resources but just out of moons.

Jan your idea itself its great but would be hard to impliment in Armada, i can think of some way to make it work but its not all that great and the main issue is, hwo woudl you get ships to leave behind resources when a classlabel was never made for it in the first place.

Doca has stated in the past, making whole new classlabels is not an easy feat while fixing broken ones or unlockign ones is a tad more easier.

It might not even require you to implement ships that leave debri...there could simply be a count for each ship lost, and thus a specific amount of resources that are attained automatically by the npc ferengi...

The problem with ship dubree is that it would need to be 3d and as I have found in HW2 and have bean wound by doca the is a pro-foments for every 3d element in the game adding random ship part would rely show most computers down.

So you will need to come up with some thing to substitute ship parts thats the resin I say use a nebula that would use less rosaries.

yea, slowdowns are a major problem with left behind resources. i know that from homeworld 2 in long battles, it can really bring any computer down if masses of fleets leave behind debris. problem yet also is a lot of micromanagement. you would need to take care of the freighter that harvests the scrap of destroyed vessels as these have then usually go into places were it could be that an enemy sends new vessels along or has a patrol. if you have ever played battlezone 2 and let harvesters go for scrap left by enemy tanks you know what i mean... within a minute the harvester is discovered and under attack especially if your enemy has some scouts around. debris also shouldn't provide too many resources as it would practically unrealistic. still, i like the idea somehow, i'd really like to have use for destroyed vessels in a later version of fleet operations for one race or atleast as proof of concept :)

I don't think it would even have to be that complicated.  If debris fields can be left behind, wouldn't the ferengi just remove it off the maps after a while anyways?.. just like any other derelicts.  Or at least it may (or may not) be possible to set it up that way, in which case, after a time, if you can't beat to ferengi to the resource, then just let them do the job of clearing it out, keeping the poly count in check.
