Recharging shields?

Some of you may know the Star Trek Game "Star Trek Dominion Wars".

There you have the ability to recharge your shields during battle.
But if you recharge your shields the weapon systems does reload slower, that normal.
Example: When used the offensive decreases by about 75% and the shield recharge will be increased by about 200%.

I think this would be nice in Fleet Ops, too - if it is useable in some situations, as a feature of all ships and stations. it has to be researched first. Maybe as a generic system upgard for all struktures and so on...

it might be less dangerous (because the enemy player wont fall of the chair laughing as it is now), but could seriosly increase the time some ships will surive in battle

Hey everybody,

i know the Borg-redo is on to-do, but i think that such an idea would be perfect for the Borg!

It would be a special for all Borg vessels, that increases the hull-repair-rate by xyz-percent. While this special is active the vessel is not able to move or fire back and the defence value should be extrem low (e.g. like the construction of a Dode-turret).

To prevent that this special is "overused" it should get a countdown, which allows the usage of it only once in every (e.g.) 5 minutes...

A pro of that suggestion would be, that Borg ships have the ability to repair after a battle (like all other races are able to repair).

But all that is of course only my opinion. Thx for ur answers!

Well "yes" and "no"...

The regen of Spheres and of Pyramides is a better version of the single regen ability, which all vessels can choose.

But that better version is mainly for durability in combat, the better regen after battle is 'only' a good site-note. I think most of the players built Spheres because they are the most durable combat-ships...

Well - I'm thinking in bigger dimensions here.

Stations and vessels are in one point the same: they have a main energy core. (excluding the borg... )

What I had in mind is alike in Star Trek Bridge Commander, there you have the control over the power management of your ship.
We have no Warp in Fleet Ops. So the warp-core(s) of a vessel have much more power than it is used.
Let us say that normaly are around 20% of the energy is used. So there 80% for nothing?
This 80% are what could be used for recharging the shields. Or boosting fire power (with risk of loosing weapon systems with each shot. XD)

You know what I mean?

I'm not sure that would work in an RTS, that's more of a simulator feature. Ships would use a massive amount of energy on life support, especially Starfleet. Power is also used on every other system, so I'm not sure how much would be spare.

Well, idk... it was just an idea and i hoped u would like it...

ideas are always good and very welcome, i just thought that the borg got it alr ;)

I wanted to suggest this also, the borg refresh could do it, very helpfull for slow regenrating detectors,probes and scubes, not really fast but an increase on the standard hull regeneration time.
