Realism From The Shows, To The Game

As a suggestion from a friend, an idea I formed is now becoming a topic :) What kind of show realism can we expect from those wizrds of FO amd how about adding new ideas? Here's a couple to get your heads round.

Well we all know what happens when a ship is too near another ship that blows up, it get's damaged right? now I know you couldn't have that in the game cause every ship would blow up each other in a large fleet war but what about the most powerful ship per side, a ship that powerful would cause damage if it exploded, kinda like the self destruct in A2. Or instead of damage just causing engines or weapons to go offline like if a ship is only caught in the outer edge of the Jach'eng shockwave, not enough to destroy the ship. just cripple it, maybe do the same with a specific structure like each races starbase.

Also the Borg Cutting beam, i read a rumour a while back that Beta 3 will include a new cutting beam that will actually slice of sections off a ship, true or false? I'd guess false but i'd hope it was true :D

Well as I aid on the other topic, it would make sense if every ship caused other ships to take damage if they are in it's blast radius. Not much damage, like 20 or so damage to shields. One problem is it might ruin fleets but a positive is realism and making players think about how they want to make an attack go down.

Definately could ruin fleets but like we both agree, realism, sometimes some nice looking realism takes first place over an old fasioned 'tank rush'. Maybe a setting in the advanced settings tab 'explosion damage on/off' ??

Another realism, which kudos to FO have already improved ten fold from A2 is the ship explosion look, i'm thinking the ship parts that spin off are too big, maybe just obliterate a ship or have the odd few small fragments hang around, i'm thinking, Ent-D going through the 'graveyard scene' at wolf 359, what you guys think?

I was thinking about that but never go around to it, it might be hard coded in the engine or something.

I think the FO team are limited to the technology that exists for them now, it certainly doesn't limit their imaginations and if they had it the tech still wouldn't be good enough for what they wanted so they just stretch it as far as they can take it, probably why this is the MOST kickin' mod in existence! :D

I certanly hope thats true, but yeah its probably false :( .

Well I certanly think the first idea is possible and its also OK, that was done before in armada 1 and 2 when the ships self destruct they eould damage everything around them :)
