So Myleswolfers gave me an idea from his Vorcha Thread.
He suggested giving the Vorcha the pulses we saw in DS9 periodically. I've always kind of wanted this myself, but really I can't see it as anything but a nerf seeing as beams are naturally 100% while pulses do reduced to larger vessels. Then I remembered that both the Vupta and the B'rel use pulses as part of their Manual Targeting passive ability.
SO:
How does it sound to peoplez if the Vorcha, upon reaching officer rank at lvl 4 (one gold bar) receiving Manual Targeting itself along with a minor-damage pulse-disruptor like it has in the show?
Balancing:
If the pulses were very low damage (as to basically be aesthetic) it could follow the line of logic behind the Vupta and the B'rel that the manual targeting is the result of watching the frequent pulse disruptor impacts on the hull of the fleeing cloaked vessel.
I'm aware that it already gains a photon torpedo upon rank 4, but since the torpedo is a weapon that actual does significant damage, I don't think that it would hurt the vessel or the balance much to add a pair of very weak pulse disruptors as "scattershot" almost
.
That would do a couple of things:
A. Increase the total number of available vessels with Manual Targeting without encroaching on the roles of the vessels that come standard with the ability.
B. Widen the Klingon ability to chase down fleeing prey
C. "Spice up" the Vorcha by bristling it with weapons aesthetically (as the pulses wouldn't really just be utilitarian, not damage-dealers.
What do you guys think? The Vorchas are pretty frequently-used units because they are a great mainline vessel. Manual-targeting is not an ability that can easily "break balance" as it can really only allow to to pop maybe one extra vessel per engagement unless you have MAD micro skillz
. I think this would both keep people happy who wish for some neato pulse's on the Vorcha while adding a little more mainline Manual Targeting at officer rank

Not wanting to sound ignorant, but what is the advantage of Manual Targetting, because I read it's desription in game/the guide and didn't make much sense to me (and klingon is my most played race in tthis patch!).

it allows you to continue firing on vessels which are cloaking away from combat, if they are attacked by a vessel with manual targeting

As a continuation of what Optec said, as long as you are hitting the cloaking unit, it remains visible so ALL other units can kill it too

Yup, so right now if a B'rel or a Vupta happens to be firing on a vessel that cloaks, they and anything else can continue firing on that vessel for a few seconds extra, usually destroying that vessel.

But you can fire on cloaking ships anyway, so where do the extra seconds come from?

As long as the B'rel is firing on the cloaking ship, it remains visible. Permanently. Sometimes it "misses" though - two B'rels mean a cloaking ship is a dead ship however

So it's like when they exposed Changs BoP in the movie?

Yeah, kinda
"Target that explosion and ... BLOW THAT SHIT UP!"

then reuse the effect in generations. TO SAVE SOME OF THAT MONEY

I get it now, that is sweet. B'rels are great against cloaking factions then.

i used a guessing trick before on a game called warzone2100 against other players when i couldnt see them on the map, i took a logical guess with the mortar or pepperpot and ended up destroying 4 tanks and did this frequently. in STA2 i could modify the romulan artillery unit to fire in areas with a guess and could still destroy cloaked ships. i just hope the force fire feature is still in FO from stock A2. if not i could have the unit attack my scout and have it fly about when it runs up against a cloaked ship blocking it's path and keep moving it about once the arty unit fires.
ive just tried it on the game just now and works well. when all logical plans fail to work, the only ones remaining are the ones no one considers
.
it may not effectly work as well as klingon manual targeting for pulse weapons, but one good shot can destroy a good deal of cloaked ships.
