Are there any plans for changing the rank icon to something a little more Star Treckie? For instance like the command pips that the different ranks in starfleet wear. Also i think it would be cool if there were more ranks.

What do you want, three gold bars for captain?!!! If you want them so badly, then make them yourself.

No i was just thinking that the gold bars are something that the military uses nowadays. But Captains in starfleet wear 4 gold pips.

I kinda find Dircome's idea interesting.

Gold circles for the feds
Klings can have those spiny things they wear
Roms can have their bars
Doms - i don't remember their usage.

But would be neat if each race had its unique rank insignia marker.
Would add a little variety to the visuals.

Not necessary of course - but if doable, it would be neat

I like this idea, it would give the game more Star Trek flavour. I do think other tasks like balancing and such should be done first. Imho

Wouldn't you need race-specific rank insignia for every single wireframe?

The one problem I see for this is that it isn't actually rank... it is experience (i.e. you don't become a general and stay in a bug, but you become a veteran pilot just the same)

I see your point but what would you have us call it. It is generally assumed that the more experienced officers would be promoted. The current experience levels are based off of current day officer ranks.

I say just take it for what it is.  A Defiant with no bars is just a Defiant.  A Defiant with 2 gold bars has Worf and Cisco inside.

Nah.  But they have other super-officers.  Though Cisco-clones would be great.  So much Q-punching.
