hi there, it's me again.
my mind was just struck by some random thoughts and i figured 'why keeping them to myself when i can annoy others?'. let's hear it then:
since fed's sov has this cool ability to fire 3 or 4 torpedoes in a short time at first contact i was thinking that it would be cool if all ships with torpedoes could do that. i would include pulse weapons also.
the reason for this is that right now it doesn't really matter if u r able to attack your opponent from the flank or rear. the ships just turn and it's basicly just a normal fight. attacks from the flank/rear should give u definite advantage. right now, sure u pick 2-3 ships at first but it's not enough imo. in case of the feds it is even less significant. it would also make those romulan rides more effective. with a fleet formation system mention somewhere else it would be even better.
i know that rebalancing and all would take a while, but maybe as v4 feature. of course weapons that do more damage firing to the front then to the back would also help, but it's just a little dream of mine.

I cannot comment on your hangover, but i suggest you drink a lot of water and take an aspirin 
Taking information from Daystrom Institute Technical Library ( Daystrom Institute Technical Library a Star Trek website ) on the Sovereign Class Sovereign Class - Specs it seems the burst fire torpedo tubes and photon torpedo tubes are unique to that class of vessels.
Pulse weapons are at the time frame of the defiant/sovereign still fairly limited in their use so using them on all federation vessels would increase federation firepower a lot and probably unbalance things.
Adding pulse weapons on all fed ships would be like adding the endgame armor to all federation ships.

burst firing torpedeos is not unique to sovreign class. Akira class vessels and Galaxy Class Vessels can fire a shitload torpedeos in a few secs too.
Pulse weapons would be something for the mixed tech Yards. For example a Federation warbird with heavy pulse phasers. Might be some kind of crazy but it would make the mixed tech thing more interresting.

But with the number mentioned (3-4) this refers to Quantum Torpedo's which to my knowledge are only found on Sovereign, Promethius and Defiant class vessels.
Therefor giving all fed. vessels direct access to quantum torpedo's may unbalance things.

He was referring to the fact that the Akira can burst fire PHOTON torpedoes. When the Enterprise D was fighting against the Cube I vaguely remember someone talking about firing up to 10 photon torpedoes in a single burst. Also, during fist contact, it was blatantly obvious the the Akira class ships can burst fire Photon torpedoes too, when you see USS Thunderchild unloading a compliment of torpedoes after Picard takes command of the fleet.
In terms of applying this to FO. The Galaxy kind of already has this ability by being able to target upto 3 ships. It would be nice to see the Akira class ships burst firing photon torpedoes too but I suspect that could lead to balancing issues. Maybe you could make then ever so slightly less accurate. I suspect it might encourage other players to use smaller ships against the Federation if the burst fire ability was implemented. The Federation would become a very "Torpedo" reliant race and torpedoes tend to miss smaller ships more often

i was thinking about all ships not only feds. the pulse weapon thing was not to add pulse weapon to all the ships but to allow ships that have pulse weapon to fire them like torpedoes. i think i've seen klingon/romulan disruptors fire in bursts.
presumably if u increase cooldown time for pulse weapon but add burst fire it would make it more of a shock weapon and a normal phaser a defensive one.

Defiant's can burst fire? I only saw it's launcher's fire one Torpedo at a go, with a short space between each shot.
