I was thinking a cool way to make the Chonaq attractive would be to make it similar to how the protoss unit that increases damage while it fires on a single target.  Perhaps set it up similar to how the romulans have their firing shot delays, but backwards and with up to 10 settings.  That would make it a really cool assault unit for bases and larger structures, etc.  Just a thought.

Think that's the Voidray in SC2 :).

Pretty cool unit, indeed!  Sound perfect for the Chonaq to give the Klingons a real reason to STAY in battle :D.

Sounds interesting, people ming actually have a reason to use the Cho'naQ that way.

Probably not in replays, though; no-one ever finishes those, just quitting without even killing the base.

i like the idea from a gameplay pov. it doesnt feel very klingon though, staying in battle longer

i would be happy with the chonaq if it simply didnt waste its firepower on already destroyed units that havnt had the good manners to explode yet.

maybe the chonaq itself could be rethought. maybe make it a ship with better defence than offence. a tank, like the kbq, but late game. the bortas is capped and is a flying ion storm support ship and the neggie is a hard hitter. maybe the chonaq could tank fire. then again the vorcha always does that well too.

Maybe it could be like the Steamrunner or HSA; firing a single, slow-charging blast doing all its damage at once?

High damage, slow regeneration, and a chance of punching straight through shields (increasing with rank) while possibly disabling its own engines by using too much power (deceasing with rank).

a ship that sacfricing engines for weapons sounds klingon indeed. i like that idea tyler.
