I was thinking of the enterprise episode with the romulans trying to start a war between well everyone, and i thought of their ship that pretended to be other races ships.

my suggestion is for a romulan ship (or refit) which can mimic another ship kinda like the incursion from vanilla a2, but better.

u can scan a ship (while cloaked of course) and can pretend to be that ship, and all enemy players will see your ship as the ship it is pretending to be. they will also see it as being of the same race so their cursor will be able to fire on it.

of course any smart player will realise their ally is not turning on them. so its really to exploit the AI in battles i guess.

here's an example:

you have two enemies, one fed one klingon. so u scan a fed galaxy while cloaked and retreat out of range, decloak and assume the galaxy facade. then u attack the klingon fleet with your "galaxy" and that confuses the ai so all the klingon ships start shooting the fed ships for a short while until the word spreads that it's a trick. of course the fed ai responds and starts shooting the klingon ships. so a few enemy ships die/take damage. if ur enemy is clever they will order their fleets apart. allowing u and hopefully your ally to attack each individually.

This could be really fun. Scan a cube that is about to die, then send a fake cube to enemy base! Would also make a nice way to confuse the enemy to send the wrong counter by making them think a certain type of ship is assaulting mining when it's actually another ship.

Incursion with guns?

Everything's better with more dakka. :2guns: Maybe even make it give he appearance of using the weapons of the ship it's imitating, but with the same damage amounts as the ship has without the facade on.

kinda but it wont really be that strong. so if u scan a cube u wont get cube strength weapons just looks like cube guns. infact weapon strength should remain constant. about the level of an unranked e2. the point really is to force your enemies to fire on eachother. attacking their mining wouldnt help, they would just realise its just a ploy and ignore the attack.

That's what I meant.
"same damage amounts as the ship has without the facade on." The ship, as in, the ship that uses the facade. Actually it might if u scanned one of your own ships. They'd be like "crap he sent a Leahval", then it turns back to normal and kills the Akira.

scanning your own ship would be possible i guess :) but only one ship wont make him counter that type hard.

sounds like a fun idea :)

Spam...

Also, this is the second time I posted this, it seems Optecs post happened at the same time as mine. Not just Ninja'd, but Ninja Assassinated! Poor post never stood a chance.

u mean have several ships do the special i suggested?

i wouldn't like that.

i was thinking of this as a thing u dont do often. maybe have the ship that has the holoemitters be expensive. good holoemitters are probably costly. i dont think you would build too many of these ships. certainly not enough to convince your enemy your fleet primarily consists of them.

Only one ship, but build a bunch of them. Somewhat higher cost than comparable in size and firepower ships, and slightly longer build time.

Are we talking about building replicas, or, some sort of 'holo-cloak'  mimic?

Either way, reminds me of the the Red Alert Spy.  Hopefully the ship (esp if it's romulan)  will have a special ability or two to have fun with once it infiltrates that enemy fleet.
(not unlike the RA spy:  Steal Radar Map/Reset Enemy Shroud etc...)

Maybe it can be a ability for the intel center, would make it more attractive to choose.

that's what i meant lol. i dont think thats a good idea. romulus only had two of these drone ships in enterprise, i think they are expensive. i wouldnt want players to build more than 2 or 3 of them.

Lol mimic a cube haha! What if this ship was a mixed tech ship that allowed you to mimic a ship from the race you have mixed technology with?

For example.

Fed mixed tech:

Mimic Akira, E2, Sov, Defiant.

Klingon mixed tech: Negh, Vorcha, sang.

Dominion: Breen Cruiser, V-13, Dread

Borg: Sphere, Diamond, mayber cube.

Just a bunch of battleships would be cool. The ship could have a strong defense, but really weak offense, and would have a holo stuter when it was under fire.

This would be awesome for distracting and scaring opponents! Imagine their fleet is coming to get you and you can sneak a fake cube heading for their base! Haha this would totally stay in character of the Romulans. Sneakily influencing their opponent in order to bring deliver them into a trap :D
