Possible Role for the Raptor

Post ideas and suggestions on new features or improvements here.

At first I thought I was looking at an old post on the Generix. But hey... gotta read the title.

I am actually quite excited for this being brought back. However I do not like the idea of giving it the vanilla role. So here is my input.

Name: Reh'Jehn Class (Sounds more Romulan than Raptor doesn't it? Plus Reh'Jehn means Harbinger or Omen in Romulan)
Role: Torpedo Assault Cruiser
Refits: Ablative Armor Refit, and Heavy Torpedo Refit

Reh'Jehn (unrefitted) stats:
Offensive: 31
Defensive: 24
System: 20

- 2x "Bolt-Action" Plasma Torpedoes (Medium Range; each individual torpedo deals a small amount of damage. However each hit during the firing chain will deal slightly more damage than the last as the quick firing would cause shield stress making the next hit more effective)
- Warp-Plasma Warheads Passive Ability (Increases the chance it would damage subsystems on Short-Range targets)
- Multi-Flux Shield Generator Passive Ability (Decreases Damage taken from torpedoes and Pulses. But is more vulnerable to Beams and specialized Weaponry)

Reh'Jehn (Ablative Refit) Stats:
Offensive: 33
Defensive: 29
System: 17

Changes:
- Removes Multi-Flux Shield Generator
- Replaces it with Romulan Ablative Armor Toggle ability (Deactivates the Bolt-Fire feature and reduces Offensive Stat by 3. But Raises Defensive Stat by 2. Makes the ship less vulnerable to Phaser and Disruptor damage but more vulnerable to Torpedo and Polaron damage)

Reh'Jehn (Heavy Torpedo Refit) Stats:
Offensive: 35
Defensive: 25
System: 20

Changes:
- Replaces Bolt Action Plasma Torpedoes with two Heavy Plasma Torpedoes
- Removes Both Original passives and replaces them with Tachyon-Fused Plasma Passive (Makes the torpedoes able to penetrate through shields. Deals less damage vs Borg. Deals increased damage vs Stations)

The overall Summary of the proposal. This gives us a ship that one may call a "Heavy-Dealer". It is built to deal heavy damage even though it gives up the accuracy of disruptors in favor of the torpedoes. The Bolt-Action torpedo feature would make basically act like the multi-chamber torpedo where it would leave behind an effect that specifically increases its vulnerability only within the time span that would be equal to the time between each torpedo. This would be very brief, and hard to exploit (unless you spam them. Which is highly unfavorable since they could be expensive and the Romulan economy encourages preservation over big ship building). Refitting them to have Ablative armor would be a give and a take. And of course this toggle ability would be like the Armor Replication in End Game except better balanced and it makes you give something in order to get it. The Heavy Torpedo variant would be giving up both of the original passives. And of course it would be quirky as its purpose makes it unfavorable for Anti-Borg as most torpedo ships are. Instead it would be more useful for mid-end game as it would be more or less a ship that helps clean up enemy Outposts. But the heavy torpedoes could have a long delay between shots making them vulnerable if alone. Thus also preventing a smaller "Tavara" from happening where someone would wipe out a base with just the Torpedo Reh'Jehns.

meh. this seems rather monolithic in task and structure, and rather an allround-ish type of vessel. The basic Raptor descrip sounds like the current generix with a stat boost and the specters active intergrated into a passive. when i think of a role for a romulan vessel, i think of specialized, circumstantial stuff. yes in current patch, the romulans have vessels that do it all. leahval anyone? but that is going away next patch. in favor of a much more interesting mechanic systme.

(that and the shield penetrating weapons system. scary suff, i think its dangoerous to put that on a ship. as it makes in uncounterable. as the ship can bypass 50-70% of a ships defense. thats like the best passive in the game that effects every unit but borg =()
