Port, Starboard ... Weapons, Maneuvers Etc
Post ideas and suggestions on new features or improvements here.

1. Have you considered more accurate firing points, such as dorsal phasers, aft torpedoes.... This occured to me, since it`s ridiculous that a ship can fire from any position at a target (not imortant how it`s turned)...
2. And i would like to comment on the issue of the 3rd dimension:
-it is necessary, because ships cannot move effectively through such limited space
-it cannot be obstructive, since space IS 3D and so is life (if not more...)
-height can be essential in building base defences (one turret low, the one infront high..)
-limiting such a great game and the best conversion in my opinion to 2D is outrageus! (let it not become a board game!)
3. As already mentioned, shuttles, shuttlebays, fighters on flagships....
4. MANEUVERS!
How about 10 much faster Bird`s of Prey outflanking a bigger, slower ship, and evading some of it`s weapons fire...
5. More formations
6. More orders... (example: go there, patrol for 15 minutes, then resupply or repair, then go to ...)
It would really be a nice touch... and strategically more organised (Strategy AND Tactics)
7. Lack of warp i can take.... consider multi maps... if applicable... several maps in one... a base and enemy in one, when finished on to the next or warp on to the other map... or similar. Something similar has already been attempted i think...
8. More special abilities by race, although i can see it`s already in progress (avatars?), perhaps something like intervention from Q for the Federation... etc
9. Since Scimitar is supposed to have primary and secondary shields...
How about more ship upgrades for all ships, not just 15% upgrade or so...
(example: I have a Galaxy class starship (my all-time favorite, don`t know why... must be a combo with Picard...) and i would upgrade my ship with two high energy phaser-array, increase warp core efficiency and therefore increase power to my tactical array... even more power to shields or weapons, .... these upgrades would be available per ship and would cost... but you could essentialy arm your ship by desire (if available resources...)
FleetOps gives us hope! (i would personally like to call it ST:Armada 3, but it look like it`s going to become even more!)
That's all for now, replies welcome since i have already found a couple of greys in my hair!

1. I like more firing points for ships, make the Feds need to get in position to use them and so on.
2. I kinda like it how it is, makes turrets valuable. (we are in the 4th diminion).
3. I dont want fighters on every ship.

I think the problem with having ships having firing arcs is that it would be extremely difficult to control in large battles. It may work with only a few ships, but a lot of the battles will be on a large scale, and it would be impossible to manage the entire fleet and their firing arcs.
In my opinion, height didn't really add much to the game. Ships just moved up and down, and that was about it, without adding anything to game - no more strategy or tactics, just a third dimension.

1. how about even more personalized starships... when a ship leaves spacedock it is never really fully crewed... more variety.. one has 778, another of the same class has 781 (if full crew complement was 780...)
... and even if a ship is operating with full crew, why can`t we transport aboard more personnel... a galaxy class should be able to support at least twice more personnel in relation to its crew...
2. and a question: why aren`t crew complements more realistic in regard to Star Trek?
Galaxy-about 1012 or so ...
3. relative cost of starbases and outposts is waaay too low... and it seems starbases are severely undergunned in FleetOps...
I suggest making them three times more expensive as they are currently (beta 2) and as powerfull as they were in the original A2...
Federation starbase more powerfull then DS station , DS station destroys 20-30 enemy ships... should have more weaponry and at least defensive roundabouts or fighters...
4. fighters should be included, since they are present in every major fleet engagement in Star Trek.... Of course only capital/bigger ships would carry them (or not if not enough resources are available...) they should cost something;
5. since Supply is being incorporated in FleetOps 3, maybe the idea of overhauling the ships, hence the additional upgrades? (which had already engaged the enemy several times, and were damaged a few times) not just repairing them...
6. lack of experience a ship should get after successfully engaging the enemy bothering anyone? !!

I apologize for the 2nd reply... i forgot the following:
it just feels as a fallback... everybody appears content with no height...
3rd dimension is real in any event and of course in combat... air, ground, naval... and space...
Space has more 3D than anything, if you catch my drift....
going to 2D really is a setback... remember 2D games... nice textures, graphics doesn`t cover it...
in a way it`s only easier, not better...
urghhh, i`m going to bed now, since it`s midnight here and i`m a working man...
BTW: FleetOps is addictive, i here from my precious...

SLOVENIAAAAAA RULEZZZZ, hey which city are u from Darko???
And for that height thing, I think its because of the A2 engine that there is no height, if u remember A2 u did have hight but it didnt do u any good so in fleetops they left it out and I think its right that way
. But u are right height is important but since they dont have the source code they cant do nothing about it

on a side note:
what about making an in game video. starting at noral zoom going to leval vowe. than starting the video. the zoom whood be acompanyed with an in creesing valume from 0 to nomal leval leeding in to the video.
i think this cood be a cool efect.

1. I like the idea of having canon crews but not having a few random numbers for the same ship.
2. Same for number one.
3. Starbases should cost alot more and be more powerful, I agree 100%.
4. Few ships actually carry fighters on standard patrols but only on operations where they expect to encounter a fleet of enemy ships, so I don't really agree except for classes that have fighters in show, like the Akira.
5. I like the idea of upgrading ships a little bit more then the standard, not so much as the Rhien but to a point where a Saber could take on lets say (use my previous example...) an unrefitted Rhien.
6. I like the idea of crew experiance, gives an attacking fleet an edge right after an attack, usually when a counter-attack arrives.
