Particle Stream for Galaxy Class

Post ideas and suggestions on new features or improvements here.

Here's a feature from TNG that the Enterprise used to destroy an asteroid when torpedoes couldn't do the job. I think it would make a great addition to the Galaxy Class; similar to the assault disruptor but has a cooldown time instead of using special energy. Damages hull only.

  • Particle Stream
Causes constant damage to a single enemy's hull but
must be cooled down after each use

cool idea, but as it is now, the souvereign class is just not really stronger than the galaxy. If you push up the galaxy, you need to push the souvereign too. I'd like that.

xtlc sounds a lot like Ray xD. But...do you remember how useless this was against the Borg? Also, more importantly why can't the Nebula or Sovereign use this same tactic? I appreciate the quality of your post though. It just seems you guys will never give up with buffing the Galaxy class.

It might not be so useless against a lesser target (like any ship that isn't a Borg Cube).

Keep in mind that the deflector dish also makes the ship take enormous damage.... as in when it attacked the Borg Cube, they couldn't move the ship for quite a time. It was a last ditch effort.

Actually, this is the particle stream used against the nitrium metal asteroid because torpedoes couldn't destroy it (it can be used freely without damaging the ship). Since the deflector of the Enterprise D was used for many purposes throughout TNG, I thought this particular feature would make for a good new ability to be added to FO.

I do firmly believe the Galaxy needs a buff; for heavens sake, the Miranda and Excelsior II are better armed and have more abilities. Give me a break. The Galaxy is severely lacking in the special ability department which doesn't do it any justice. It uses the battleship physics file but fights like a low powered cruiser.

However, I'm not all about the Galaxy. I'd like to see other Fed ships get a boost too. You stated, "why can't the Nebula or Sovereign use the same tactic?" That's a very good point, maybe it should, but I believe each ship should have unique abilities. If the Galaxy is buffed, the Sovereign should be buffed too, but the Sovereign's covered in the special ability department and it can be very deadly when used right.

i like the idea but if every idea gets added then some ship classes cud b very tough or were wud we stop mayb the deflector pulse cud be added or the antimatter spread. what i wud like tho is the fundermental special that the galaxy shudd have but dsnt and thats saucer seperation

Optec said the saucer separation may appear in an "emergency case," so that's a big plus, but I'd still like to couple that with the particle stream.

hm... proposal:

Ship has to lower shields for this attack. Particle Stream will set enemy ship under heavy stress, movement of smaller vessels will be impossible, bigger ones will slow down. After penetrating shields to their end or if there are no shields, it will cause damage to one random subsystem.

wasn't the particle stream effective specifically against the borg.
More of an emergency stop-gap attack.
2 instances of this were - the borg, and the escape from a Tycans's Rift (forgot the correct name.. the one where the ship was not able to sleep except for Troi - one moon circles)

We sure this is specifically for all galaxy classes or just 1. after all it wasnt a mainstay ability. It was a specific adaptation made by Laforge.
Maybe as a special ability of the enterprise-D map object derelict. that would be more fitting... what do u think?

Sounds like a great idea to me if we ever get Hero ships back.
