ok, once again me and a freind were thinking about older ships to starfleet. At the begining you could make it so that all you could make were the older ones? i mean if you only have stae of the art ships, how are you going to get the feel of actual star trek? i mean, i know that you have excelsior type 2 but what happened to type 1? and what about miranda's? (ok maybe not them but still, i needed more to go on then just the excelsior thing
)

well, we think starfleet won't build their old fashioned vessels anymore.. they may be still in service (also you see hundreds of miranda explode during the dominion war) but starfleet wont begin a new construction program for them
the other problem is, if we do this for the federation, we would have to do this for the other races, too, and that's a bit to much work if we want to finish Fleet Operations someday

many old starfleet vessels are planned as map objects and also there will be an old shipyard where will be able to build old tech vessels.

Splendid, finaly we get to see a "proper" Excelsior class starship
Now, how about a Lakota subtype? You get an old shipyard, and research Lakota subtype somehow...
And also, is the Promethues class coming up? Becasue I actually want the Promethues to replace the Descent.. Descent.. shudder

Yeah dude we tried to request that but their bent on it for some reason. Only reason I would keep it is if a family member told me to keep it in mod on their death bed. Besides that its an ugly ass ship.

yo, we cannot put every ship in the mod, we make every vessel model on our own. so we only include ships in which you are most interested in. The Descent is replaced as told in another thread in a future version by another vessel that is not sure yet.

I would have to say only the prometheus fits it's position. It's the only ship stronger then a sovern. I think it should have an MVAM that actually makes it more powerful then put together, like all 3 pieces have increased firing rate then what they normally would be separated. Just my 2 cents

The Descent-Class is a bit much and the Promethius is a tad over rated in my book. I'd like to see a design of totally new proportions. The Avalon is a great Model and I can't wait to see her in action for myself. But I'd like to see how far the MOD can take New Models and Ideas. Something the Trek World or Federation haven't seen yet. I'd like to see something Mind bendingly Unique! Promethius again is over rated it's a kool ship but not practical for this kind of MOD.
But I support the idea of the a map based shipyard for the older ships in the fleet. I think mixing things up a touch like that can add an old feel to a good new class.

Overrated? The one episode that ship was on showed it kicking ass. If the Enterprise had been a prometheus class on Nemesis well...Data would still be here and we would all be alot happier.

Well, I think that the Promethus class is not a super duper dreadnought that could destroy every single outpost, shop, station. I think its just a prototype design to pack a firepower just less of a Sovereign class in to a size of an Intrepid class starship. So it might not be the strongest around, but it should cost considerably expensive, and should pack quite a punch. I would say that Promethues should have...........say... 110 shield and 150 hull, weapons power at.........just a bit more than the Sovereign..

Well its more powerful then the Sovern especially in MVAM and has the best technology. Don't see why there are any disagreements about it's strength unless you never saw that episode of Voyager. Still would be cool to see it.

I actually watched every episode of Star Trek: Voyager but Yeah, agreed, it will be stronger than the Sovereign with the MVAM.

None of that suicidal separation like with the Galaxy on the unmodded A2. I mean this should be about as powerful as Sovern un-separated but have each piece alone weaker then a sovern, but all 3 peices together about a Sovern and a halfs strength shield and hull wise. Weapons altogether when separated about 2 times the amount of a Sovern. This seems reasonable for a battleship.

OK I don't think MVAM is truely Possible. But then again I'm not mush of a Modder. Besides, you saw it in 1 episode and it's become like the GOD ship. Yeah it's kool prototype and is really sweet ship, but it doesn't have to be in every MOD. Besides The more Inventive these guys get the better and more ingeniuse the MOD becomes. But With the Idea of adding MAP shipyards for yester-year designs is sweet. What older ships would be added to this shipyard? That's what I'd like to know.
