I'd love for the devs to add in the following multiplayer options under a tab:

1. Observers can't talk (what we have now)
2. Observers can only talk with other observers
3. Observers can talk just like the players can

Anyone else think this is a good idea?

I like 1 and I like 2, 3 can be a problem just because someone with a grudge could be a jerk and ruin a game by typing where all the units are, even if everyone can read the observers chat.  And there are a few people online who wouldn't be above that.... :whistling:  People also make friendly mistakes without intending to be malicious, but still ruin the game as well.  Observer:  "Oh, I sure hope that cube gets built!"  Other team:  "What cube??!! :woot:"  Observer:  "Oh, I thought you saw that! :("  Team building cube: " :pinch: >:( >:( >:("

I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice, as there have been a few times I would have loved to join in on the chat, but 3 just has too many potenial problems for me to like it. :)

#2 would be good, but 3 has too much potential for abuse.

I'll follow the consensus here.  If #3 should ever exist, it should be as an option to be enabled by the host.

Why? You could just tell the host not to select that one then.

I guess option 2 would be the most used. Observers chatting with each other cant do any harm and it would make being Observer more interesting.

I wish i would have had option 3 when i watched a game that some of my friends had.
Would have liked to give them all some tips because they were new.

you need to expand and scout!
stop spamming empty platforms they dont do a thing unless upgraded...
... erm ok now you have 50 quantum turrets, but youre still going to need some ships

An Observer should observe and not talk...

Why not adding ? In a game of friends it might be very handy. And nobody forces you to use 3 in normal public matches.

So, yes, it would be nice to have all of those choices.

firstly, i agree that building too many turrets is bad

but building only the platforms (not to excess, only a restricted number) can be a good thing if u are clever and can micro fast. u just have to float a little res (enough for one or two turrets), and pay attention. so instead of spending loads of money on many upgraded platforms, u can build only the base platform and upgrade the one that gets attacked. this of course works better when the enemy cant cloak. that way the turret still does the job it would when upgraded straight away, but u get to keep the res from the other turrets upgrades.

I like ideas 1 and 2.

And as people say, 3 would be able to be abused. Even if it was only set to "All" chat.

Still, I think 1 and 2 are a must.  :)

That was the idea. I meant that there should be an option to do one of the three just like theres an option for resource levels in the game. If you don't like 3 then don't have the Host click to set it on.

#2 sounds like a good one, #1 would eventually get boring for the observer.

#1 can get boring if the match is bad I suppose. But in any case it should be an option since some people might like the way it is now.

Oh and while I'm back here, could we PLEASE have observers get to listen to allied chat? Some times after switching to All Chat and then back to AC, I forget to re-add the observer which isn't fair to them.  Or maybe just add a new tab for AC + Observers. Thanks.
