No-CD exe and other
Post ideas and suggestions on new features or improvements here.

Two things I gotta ask here:
1. Is it possible to make a no-cd exe for FleetOps? I've made it a habit of carrying some games around in my USB drive, and since I don't have the CD for all of them, I use no-cd exe's in place of the original. I would like to do the same with FleetOps, so I can play on a computer that can handle it wherever I am at the time
2. The Mac has caused hell for both my schoolwork and my games and modding. My mother and I are in the process of looking for a new Dell. My question is, which of the following graphics cards should we get for it:
-ATI Radeon HD 4350 512MB (takes $130 off the stock price)
-nVidia GeForce GTS 240 1024MB (included with computer stock)
-ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB GDDR5 (adds $200)
I ask because I'm not all that familiar with graphics cards as others are, so I'd like to make the smartest decision money-wise, but also have a card that can handle higher=end games like FO.
Any help in either matter would be highly appreciated

All of those cards will be able to run FO no problem at all. I myself use a 4 year old nVidia 7900 GO 256mb and that can more than handle it (maxed out everything easy). Some people here use crappy integrated cards that can run FO half way, on so don't fork out the money if it's just for FO. I'd recommend the nVidia, but that's just cuz I'm partial to those card. 200 extra bucks for that card is just asking to be ripped off in my mind - a new card will come out in a few months that will blow it away, and all you'll be sitting on will be an extended price
. The only thing I don't recommend skimping on is RAM. Is this a laptop, desktop?

its gonna be a desktop. and thanks, that just cut down the total price to $1197. certainy an improvement from before

If you want to buy a new pc now you should not buy a card of the 58xx series. Only god knows when you will get it. And because of this the cards are more expensive they should be.
But nVidia is more expensive then they should be too. The good cards are hard to get too. If you need physX, buy a nVidia. Else a 5770. It will have no problems running FleetOps in 1920x1200
. Even Crysis is not a Problem. With a AMD Phenom II 955 or a intel Core I5 750 it will work for the next years perfectly.
Dell is a little bit expensive. I think it is better, to buy a PC at a trader who will build it together for you. Often they will even install win. Without the hole bunch of programms you never will use like big traders do
.
And the parts may better fit together. You never need a 600W powersupplie. 380W build by enermax will do to.
But if it has to be this PC and only this cards are chooseable - take the 5870.
5870 are sold for 300 to 350€ today. 200$ more is cheap!
The GTS240 is one of the slowest nVidiacarts you can get. And the 4350 is realy slow too. And it is to expensive in this PC. 4350 just costs around 30 to 40€ ! Thats far away from 120$ and the GTS 240 is just an nVidia 9800GT with a new name. One Generation older then the name says.
Both cards may not fast enough for newer games and will come in trouble in the very near future.
DON'T BUY THEM!
Which PC you wanted to buy, send a link if possible. Maybe I will find a better Dell. And maybe you seek a litte traider near you and let him make your PC

Well, we've already put in the order for my new computer. It should get here sometime within the next two weeks. And so begins the waiting =_=..........
Oh, by the way Devs, I've got a teeny-tiny little question about the new Galaxy-Class model. What happpened to it!??!?!!? On Zeich's blog, it looked high quality; I could clearly see well-modeled areas, that stood out perfectly, like the torpedo launchers. I took a look at the new model with SOD viewer, and it looked bad. It looks like it got a MAJOR poly reduction. And no, this isn't due to the FAQ reason of SOD viewing, I figured out if you move the textures to the basic A2 folder, you can see FO SOD's if you put them in A2's SOD directory

Just a heads up - I build PC's as a side business and could probably build you a comparable rig for about half that price - up to you though mate
