so as i mentioned in another thread the idea of having a nebula that acts like the badlands and dangerous streams of energy move around (more deadly/creating system failer if hit) but can be flown through unharmed if taken care of. (onless the map maker overlaps them i supose)

(thanks Myles for showing me how to shrink the image)
also is there any plans to tweek the existing look of the nebulas to be abit more fitting with the surroundings?

- another idea, a nebula with ramdomly changing qualities so it could be beneficial one minute then damaging the next.
- a nebula that has benefits at the expence of others. like drops stats off of shields but increases weapons effectiveness.

I like this idea, sort of a nebula within a nebula.
There is an overarching 'yellow nebula' area, within this lets say there are 'orange' smaller nebulas. As long as you stay clear of the orange parts, the yellow doesn't really do that much harm. Perhaps some sort of a effect on shields, weapons, speed etc, but nothing serious. However, if you touch the orange parts, engine failure, massive shield damage, or minor direct hull damage can occur.
It's a nebula, so.. the yellow should have some consequences, but yes, mostly its the orange parts that are bad.
So it is a nebula that can be accessed with small raiding groups, but to get a full fleet, or even a half sized fleet of 15 through it would be very micro intensive. So a fleet of say five ships could be micro-ed to get through fairly easily.
