Yep, it's an earlier rendering of a Ciadan Nedrel class vessel. You can have a closer look it at here: Nedrel Class Rendering

The design may look a bit strange but you have to know that the Ciadan design most of their vessels after crabs from their homeworld.

The Ciadan will most probably join the others in v4

Any background on the Ciadan or Iconian or whatever? Are they regular races or predatory like Borg or ... ? Just wondering what the motivation for blowing them to smithereens is : )

Well for the Ciadan, it's hard to find something about them to blow them up Perhaps because they allied if the Romulans - as long as you aren't a romulan - but well, why should someone blow up the federation ;-)
