My random assembly of hopefuly helpful ideas.

Post ideas and suggestions on new features or improvements here.

First of all, as the ideas section is 90 pages of topics, what I suggest may have already been written. I did not read all of it. ^-^

This idea may or may not be popular, but would not affect standard gameplay:
Fleet Ops has done away with capturing the entire tech tree of the enemy race, unlike A1 and A2.
Even more realisticaly, it has done away with capturing the enemy race :D , which was do-able in A1 and A2(1*)
I propose a game mode (accessable by the tech part of the menu, right now there is only free tech and standard tech) where this could be done again by capturing an outpost or construction ship. I don't know if that would allow mixed tech to still function, but aside from that, this is just an idea that from my experience with A1 and A2 coding, that is realativly easy. I know almost nothing of FO coding, though... If they were similar, I might do it myself, but then it would not work with other players.

Second is an idea for a Federation avatar. So far, the avatars have affected one group of ships or another, but one left out would be the warp in ships.
I don't know how it would work out, being a distress call and all, but the Excelsior class is 100 years old now, I think. At least stick some quantum torpedos on 'em, Starfleet! (Hopefuly not on the hull :D)
This avatar would upgrade the warp in ships, and perhaps have to pay a small amount for them, either when warping them in, or after, for each individual ship (Romulan style, pretty much)

At the very least, this would mean quantum torpedos where applicable, and perhaps going so far as to have mixed tech refits.
Perhaps the mixed tech refits would occupy slots that are not warp in slots, but slots that do not refill once a ship is level 4+

The main thing I see wrong with that is it might make the Federation too much like Romulans. I don't have an idea for the Decsent class, I don't realy find it helpful compared to its cost, even at veteran status

The last idea for now is that if I am the Federation, and I capture a Romulan-Federation mixed tech yard, do I get anything for it? I have not actualy done it in a game.
If not, could it fonction like a Federation-Romulan mixed tech (by that I mean Excelsior IIs, Defiants and the third that excapes me)
or a Romulan yard (Whatever the Romulans get for Federation mixed tech). I don't realy want to make this a game of tag between capturing yards and construction ships back and forth to get different ships...
I guess, you could possibly make ~5 Romulan ships from the yard, and then it becomes unuseable/destroyed, (Just so you can't build 5, lose them and make 5 more)

That last one was just based on a question and is the worst one IMO

1* Ion storming a Borg Nexus until there is no crew, then using computer override on a Borg ship, and transporting crew from that ship onto the Nexus will "caputre" the Borg race in A1, if you were any other race.
This process could be repeated for other races, or also done with the Gemini effect and Borg holding beams, because the Gemini effect on a Cube that is not Borg, will create a Borg cube.
A2, Gemini effect a station and you would get the normal race station, create a construction ship and there you go.
Species 8472 could be captured with computer overide on a mother, get a passive embrio and send it through a transwarp gate.
Hence, all tech trees and races are captureable in both games. (Final A1 mission, I had Borg cubes heading the assault on the omega particle, very ironic...)

I realize that this is old, but It did not even get a post saying it was bad, so I am going to post one more thing. (The coders are going to hate me for this...)

What if, after the borg assimilate a ship, that ship has a special weapon that would give the borg ship and equivilant of XP. The ship would be disassembled after using this special weapon. Basicaly, it upgrades the cube/whatever at the expence of the new ship. This would take say, 15 seconds to do, so it cant be done on a ship about to be destroyed. This effect does not have to level up something to up to level 6, it could just be to 2 or 3...

(The reason I am doing this here is because I dont know if people realy read it or were scared off by the bigness of it. If you say there bad, Ill stop :) )

I didn't particularly like the ideas to be honest (I saw them earlier, but I thought that some had already been stated  :sweatdrop: ). The Excel I is fine as it is as it is a war refit--brought up to par. Not everything should get quantums as this is considered to be a rare weapon. Refits should remain a Romulan attribute, just as Warp In is a Fed ability in my opinion. Nonetheless, although I can't remember if this is correct anymore, the veteran version of the Excel will become the Lakota refit... which did have quantums.

In regards to not getting anything when capturing, this is intended as mixed tech and capturing aren't supposed to be the goal of the game. Perhaps to make it make sense to yourself, consider that just before capture, all plans and data was wiped from the yard, and that enemy yards are not compatible with your own. At least you can repair at captured yards though :)

For your first idea, I am quite confused why you would want such a game mode. For your last, I am confused again about what you really mean... why should we be allowed to take advantage of glitches that enable an unrealistic capture of enemy tech trees?

About the first one, there has been some confusion. All I was sugesting was a tech tree that would make a game mode where captured constructors would be able to create the enemy tech tree, in full. No gliches or anything. That "*1" just was there to signify an unrelated point, explaining what I meant by caputring the enemy race.

And as was stated, you're allowed to not like them.
