The only major obstacle is coming up with some technobabble that would work... maybe something about a turret mounted gun that fires pulse blasts at exactly the opposite phase of the incoming pulse to neutralize it? Anyway, whi don't i post my romulan thoughts:
* For the shrike, it's offensive value could go up a few and defensive value drop maybe 3 or 4 (make it better for hit and run)
* What's wrong with the current leahval design? I personally like it a lot. It might need a texture update, but i like it a lot!
* The Cehlaer class is my favorite romulan ship! i think it's really cool looking...
* With the intelligence center, i really dont see its usefulness. I tried using it and was not able to get the Sabotage ability to work at all (even when using it right after the one that grants you sensor data of a random ship)
* The defensive platforms are currently too weak versus its cost; 15 or so can easily be destroyed by a medium fleet. I reccomend lowering the cost a little bit or adding some special ability (like one that lets the turret become nearly unhittable but lowers its fire rate and/or damage)
* The generix support vessels level 3 ability (shield refill) might need to be toned down a little; i can double a fleets power if i add a mere 8 generix support vessels. They refill any vessels shield almost instantly and recharge their special energy too fast to be balanced.

Some nice thoughts :)

I think we will keep the basic shape of the Leahval, but make a new and modern vessel out of it.

Turrets will get better with the next patch. They will either get cheaper or more powerful

The Generix Support is on todo for some larger changes, the shield recharge in particular might get some adjustments. thats true ^-^

All right, heres my borg stuff:
* A feature idea: If you assimilate a construction ship, have it build an "Assimilation Conduit" instead of the current mixed tech implementation:
  * Integrate: Integrates the target non borg ship into the collective. Will increase the damage dealt to this ship proportional to the offensive value of the target ship. Must be used on an assimilated ship that has an offensive value greater than zero. Will consume the target ship.
  * Analyze: Selects a random active ability from among the target ship's abilities and allows it to be used by any weapons carrying, non-assimilated ship in the collective. Also makes this special ability available to future assimilated ships of the same class. Will consume the target ship.
* Since the borg have a focus on using small numbers of ships to get the job done, is there anything in the works to make them more hardy?
* the way mixed tech works now, it is almost useless! who is going to build a somewhat esoteric ship with a mediocre amount of power just to get a defense bonus against that particular race?
* Holding beams are, in their current implementation, almost useless. I had a pyramid, and it could not assimilate a mere akira without having to recharge its special energy!
* I really like the selection of "research abilities" available, but it would be nice if it was larger. I only research the high energy cutting beam, partial adaptation, boarding, and devastating attack right now because the rest arent really useful.

@ RCIX: I take it you don't play much against cloaking races as Borg? Sensor upgrade and the the sensor itself are a necessity. Likewise, nanites are extraordinarily powerful and the use of transwarp is good against long ranged quick destroyers … but not good enough (and not useful late game really). Using the first module for supply costs thingy is completely not worth it though, in my opinion.

Yeah i generally play against dominon and federation. Also, i like to play with shroud and fog off so i don't really see the advantage of sensor boosts. Those upgrades i listed can really make borg vessels shine (use devastating attack to kill shields, use high energy cutting beam to kill hull). I once had a mere 3 tac cubes and they ate about half of a federation fleet before dying (even with the guy trying to use his specials), at least partially thanks to these.

nah, let's get back on topic... Here's my dominon stuff:
* A new feature idea:
  * Crew Training
    * Allows you to, for a large amount of supply (say 300), let all of your ships start with a free level (it could be done twice)
* it could add an experience level to each ship already built
* Currently, i don't really use the S-2 Escort cruiser all that much (don't really like it, but then i dont like 1 phaser 1 torpedo cruisers)
* My favorite ships are the bug and the T-15 heavy cruiser (it has nothing to do with the fact that they dont need prototypes honest!)

S-2's pack a powerful punch against races other than the Borg: they are pretty much death dealing support with their Alpha Ketracel ability.

The crew training idea has been suggested in reference to Feds and their Starfleet... not sure if the Developers responded on that one though. It would require some serious tweaking though as experience offers a sizeable bonus (boni  :lol:) to ships.
