Multiplayer, Allied takeover

Well, we all know the unfortunate event, when one teammember crashes or loses connection. Then option AI takeover is unfortunate and the option Eliminate usially means a complete unbalnce of the game.

To avoid a loss of a whole game because just one member leaving i'd suggest an additional option which lets a random player of the team takeover the leaving members unit.

Hope that is possible

I fully agree, its so damn annoying to have a big game and finally about to kill each other when someone disconnects unbalancing the game.

Yes this is terrible. We played a game yesterday 4vs4 on wippien. Amazing there was  only a little lag!  :D And we my team was losing. And all of the sudden, 1 by 1, my enemies got disconected and it turned out to be a 4vs1!

Another idea comes to my mind, in case that task is really practically impossible.

can you make an autosave option that saves every ten minutes plus a possibility to load saved games in MP too. Thus a game in only interrupted whan a player leaves, but not lost, as it can be set up in the same configuration later with the state of the game a few minutes before the cras/player loss. ??

That would be cool... but I have never heard of such a feature for any game... which makes me think that it might be really hard to code  :(.

I wonder if some of these problems are caused by the net code, dunno  :blush:

AoE 2 supports automatic multiplayer save games, that can be resumed in multiplayer too. I have noticed that is is possible to save in multiplayer game, but I haven't never tested how resuming them works, and can they be resumed in multiplayer.

Star Trek: Birth of the Federation and Star Wars: Empire at War also include the ability to resume saved MP games (I do know that it is possible in the Galactic Conquest mode of SW:EaW, but not sure with Skirmish mode).

Most interesting-I learn something new everyday! Hopefully it is possible then for FO :)
