Did anyone ever play the ST VS SW mods? The star trek ships were over powered and fired a bunch of weapons at once but they did have something really cool. They fired at a bunch of targets at once. I think it would be neat to have a toggle for the AI to target multible ships.
Green would be that it only fires on 1 target.
Yellow would be it fires on 1 target plus any who engage it.
Red would be it will fire continuously on multible ships regardless if they fired first or not.
Now the one problem I see is they FO ships only fire 1 phaser, torpedo, or disruptor at a time. This might need to be tweaked or else multi targeting would'nt be very effective, especially when it comes to torpedos.

Would be cool for some ships. But not all.

Hmm, its a good idea. One thing though, multi-targetting is set up in the weapon file, not the AI, so you can have certain ships with certain multitarget weapons, but you cant set how many targets in the AI.
I think, anyway. If multitarget weapons took up special energy, thaty'd probably work, but... Oh wait, they already do (Rom: Multi-Disruptor & Rom: Vector Torp)

I know its not effective if the ship only fires 1 phaser/disruptor and 1 torpedo at a time. If maybe you could use special energy and fire say 2 phasers/disruptor and maybe a few torpedo bursts of 3 at a time using like 5 special energy a second then it might not be bad. This would be hard to do and it still might be aqward but it would be something interesting to research. Otherwise this idea is pretty worthless.

Yeah, that seems a much better idea..

hm.. i dont like to see more than one phaser firin in different directions at once... or like i would say.. i would hate it... definitly.. i dont like the phaser refit of the rhienn class as well as this idea..
maybe firin at a higher rate... and hit after hit... but not at the same time..

Well all star trek ships are capable of firing more then 1 phaser at a time. I think they don't because of the enormous power drain on the weapons. If you waste all your phasers early in battle then you don't have any later.

hm.. kay... but what about the races that use pulsedisruptors?... never saw 6 shots firin out of 2 banks to hit 3 targets, for example... this system dont make sense...

Alot of things don't make sense, take our voting system for example...(aimed at U.S.)

Don't turn this into a political debate please
I like the idea of firing on multiple targets, would be realy nice if a cube would act like a cube and shoot the fleet swarming it, instead destroying ships one at a time while the rest pound the heck out of it. Most large ships should have this ability. Would make the game much more interesting

It was a joke Admiral, a harmless joke that dosent even require a response. Besides this is my topic so I assume that gives me some sort of control on where it goes.
Just thought the larger ships could use a little more bite to back up their size and reputations on the shows.

hm. didnt thought about it... i just thought of ships like the rhienn class with the phaser refit... and that sucks when a lil ship can shoot 3 or more to pieces in one shoot.. but the bigger ships... i think that only borg cubes could do that... otherwise it wouldnt be really like in the shows..

In the shows the ships fired multible weapons systems at once, or at the very least much faster. When it comes to the Torpedos in every episode or movie they are firing a bunch of thm at once, giving them to the enemy like candy on haloween. So just increasing the Torpedo amounts would satisfy me.

hm.. yep.. i could live wit a feat like that...

It would be fairly simple to do, the Excelsior-II already fires 3 round burst torpedos at the first enemy it comes in contact with, then 1 by 1 torpedos til the enemy is destroyed. All you have to do it make it fire 3 by 3 but have more time in between bursts. Just use the same idea for the other torpedo firing ships in the mod. Phasers would be a little more difficult.
