There seems to be nearly none ships that are left without crew in heat of battle. In original armada 2 there was about 4%-8% ships left empty becose the weapons or life suport failure killing crew. This was very good for gameplay,I loved to take enemy ships,it also gave more importance to troop cariers.I mean, how much you use troop cariers now? personaly speaking I use them alot less than in original armada 2,build limit and not much use for them. They can assimilate small ships but if you invest money other way you can just kill them and have stronger army overall.
In FO everything just blows, and that kinda boring.I am Dominion player and it theres two life support upgrades that are completly useless most of the time, not worth the price. This would also make this upgrade usefull.I dont want make maps one big intergalactic junkyard filled with abadoned ships.Just about four thousand times more than now should do the trick ( current FO abadoned ship chance 0.0025%,original armada 2 chance 4-8%,my goal 2-8% )

In a word: No.
I constantly lose ships to life support failures, I don't want to lose more
.
EDIT: You're right about the uselessness of the Dominion life support upgrades, though. The ODF dom_BattleshipZ has higher life support hp than fed_sovriegn. Kinda wierd, unless I was looking in the wrong place. Was I
? Is that the Breen Battleship?

I understand what your saying, and i agree with you, i too would like to see more ships that are disabled or damage, and not just blown up, however im not sure how this would be implemented, i mean perhaps not all ships are destroyed, but you have hulking wrecks that can be salvagable?

Yeah, remember in Armada 2 when the Enterprise would get attacked, lose all its crew and you'd fail the mission because you no longer had any crew? That was AWESOME!!!

I, on the other hand, have never seen life support go offline. I've actually seen a lot of conflicting reports about life support failure rates. Some people see it all the time while others hardly ever see a derelict ship.

why I see it happening once every three-four hours of pure gameplay? ( I play with fog and shroud off )

Yeah, in A2 stock, I'd take little ships that were cheap to do hit and runs on starbases because their lifesupport would fail easily. Then I'd beam someone over once the thing shut down and capture it.
Lifesupport was WAY too fragile in stock.

Ok, here's a realistic combat situation for you. A ship is heavily damaged, but still firing on you, hence damaging your vessel. Here are your options. Lower your defensive capabilities to transport onto the heavily damaged vessel, where you are likely to lose lives of your crew to enemies, as well as the fact your crew's own vessel is still going to fire on the enemy vessel...even if only defensively to knock out weapon systems and the like. Then, after lives are lost from your crew sent over as well as on your own ship because it still took fire, you have to use resources to fix the heavily damaged ship, as well as lose more crew to operate it. I know, in some combat situations, it can be vital to take an enemy vessel/tech. But in most situations, blowing it to smithereens would be more effective.
If you want to take over ships....play Borg, or use the Dom troop carrier. In FO you can still lose life support and crew can die, allowing you to take over a ship. But just as in stock A2, you're more than likely going to miss it to Ferengi salvaging. I greatly disagree with the "In FO everything just blows, and that kinda boring." (I'm assuming he meant "just blows up") statement. If you want to capture a ship, its not too hard to do. Rom's cloak and retreat because ship costs and quick cloak. You keep transport cause shields are down. I've gotten a few Shrikes that way. You could use troop ships which are affective on low crew ships. You could be Assimilate/Borg and just take over everything that comes your way.
Ultimately, taking over anything other than small ships is difficult and can sometimes seem impossible w/ crew counts over 100. Its not bad though. One time, Borg vs. Feds, every Fed ship I assimilated was sent to my main base for "guard duty" and my brother called me cocky for keeping his ships as trophies!

I'm not sure about the life-support failure situation, but one thing I've noticed is something of a lack of crew-targeting weaponry. Bio-Terminator? Hell yeah.

As Klingons its happens often enough with the smaller ships. Had to rescue a few B'rels in a game i had yesterday and i don't know how it happened but also a vorcha was down to red crew after one battle with its hull at around 70%.. was playing against the Dom and there were some B8s around, although i didn't notice any transporter attacks but presume that was the reason.
