Mobile repair yard (probably for feds)

This is an idea from a mod I made for my own personal use for stock A2.

I always thought the original repair ships were a bit lame, and rarely used them as they died too quickly, especially as the cardassians (original A2) as the repair ship for them was larger, and much easier to see by the enemy.  These ships pretty much had a bullseye painted on them.

So, I came up with the idea of a repair ship which could repair other ships slowly while moving just as the old ones did, but could drop anchor( in a manner of speaking ) and unfold into a fully equipped repair yard right outside the enemy backyard.  I had a working mod of this at one time, which used the same SOD as the repair ship, and the Species, Evolve ability to change modes.  I made it much more expensive than the repair ship, and with considerably stronger shields (on par with other stations in station mode)  I had planned to make my own SOD with cardie looking half oval arms on one side that would fold up when in ship mode, but never finished.

I know fleetops doesnt have cardassians in the first place, but it would also fit the federation "engineers win the war" mentality.  Rather than the folding half ovals, perhaps the feds would have nacells that fold in for protection, and telescoping straight arms fore and aft, just for a more federation ultilitarian feel.

I dont think it should be a mobile shipyard for construction though.  It could be overpowered, and im sorry, but its been done to death on A2Files.

Another thought, for balance reasons this may be a mixed tech only unit.

What do all of you think?

I think it would be good if pulled off right. It would probably need to be really slow and be fairly expensive. Maybe if it repaired ships slower than a regular yard? It might be good as a Risner ship, so people have some incentive to play as her.

Nah, just kill the mobile yard, or better yet, capture it.  Besides this should be a mid-late game unit which should cost a considerable amount and have no offensive weapons.  It would be overpowered in early game I agree.
