Mixed Tech: Starbases

When you play Fleetops, you can get mixed tech by having an ally, or by capturing a constuction ship. Wouldn't it also be cool to get access to mixed tech by capturing an enemy starbase?

also capturing enemy fleetyards should give blueprints for mixed tech....don't know why just the building ship grants this...

aye - capturing an enemy base such as a shipyard or starbase would certainly provide more intelligence than just a construction ship.

personally i think if i capture the main starbase that i should be able to at least build a constructor so i can get the mixed tech yard.

Either way is fine.

When you capture enemy shipyards, you should be able to build ships from your own species or something.

Thats not logical. They would not have the necessary equipment needed to make another races ships. For instance let say you are romulan and you capture a federation shipyard romulan ships use miniature black holes for power while federation uses a matter antimatter reaction. The federation would not have the tech to create the black hole and vice versa.

just got an idea

If you capture a vessel or a station you should ba able to gather information by decomission it.
With this inforamtion you can built the mixed tech yard, research enemy technologie Level 1 and built the first ship in your mixed tech yard.

With another ship or station you can research Level 2 of the mixed tech
and so on...up to level 3
Maybe on a starbase you can gather all 3 levels

Don't know if it is possible to implement something like that.
Maybe enhanced by selecting the ship which will be modified.
Like on Level 1 you can select a destroyer for upgrade with mixed tech or Mixed tech only ship
Level 2 a cruiser or Mixed tech only ship (Akira or Miranda II e.g.)
Level 3 a battleship or Mixed tech only ship (Breen Battleship or Dreagnought)

But i think this would be a immense work to put in all ships with all the different versions of mixed tech.
Only fed would have something about 40 ships ^^

Personally, I would imagine the most likely method style would be getting the Starbase allows mixed-tech while the construction ships get the same list as your own, except replacing the ally mixed-tech yards with capture mixed-tech yards.

A bit off-topic: How come the Federation Outpost looks little like the one from the show?

First thing would be: By decomission ships you've boarded you could increase your shield and weapon effectivity against those ships. Or the whole race? Or their Weapons. that yould be implemented easier and is quite a cool in between step I think.

when we start the game we should have a main starbase type of structure. such as the one we see in ST VI and its Klingon/Romulan/Borg unimatrix/Dominion equivalents. These can be large and fortified structures that actually act as Starbases.

Construction ships should have the option to create starbases for a certain high resource value (that matches the power they pack), and outposts for lesser resources and limited functionality, but with different bonuses, typical of outposts...  maybe even have dual roles that can be fulfilled, maybe additional ports for mining a moon and collecting resources, as was done in A2 latinum collection. Line of sight, combat bonuses etc

but i think tht would be more of a federation thing, klingons would just build the same thing over and over again, presumably because it works, romulans would never build too substantial a starbase so i would expect them to use the same refined design. Dominion, well maybe the ketracel facility could actually be a small base of operations instead of jus another minig station. It would certainly make their supply gathering look cooler  :shifty:
