Mining ideas

i had some ideas for mining, i know this aint base ops but i just wanted some feedback on them. i would find that they add a new dimension to base building.
my idea is to have 3 levels of mining.
Level 1
the starbase acts as your mining station for your first moon pair. most maps start with 1 di and 1 tri moon near your base. the first level of mining would mean you just built the mining ships and they return to your starbase to deposit res.
support for this can be seen in DS9, the station itself ds9/terok nor was capable of mining, it was also the starbase equivalent there.
Level 2
this is basically the current system of mining with a slight cost increase for the station. the same miners as before are used. maybe the borg being super efficient could have a station with two docks, so that only one station is needed per pair of moons. this station would allow 1 di miner and 1 tri miner docked at the same time. but not 2 di miners or 2 tri miners. because the station would basically be a di refinery and tri refinery built into one shell.
this level 2 station would be used at expansions, or maybe even at your own base as it should be more efficient than your starbase at gaining res, it can be built right next to your moons.
Level 3
a suggestion heard before. this would be the ultimate mining efficiency, gaining resources faster. the level 3 station would be built straight onto the moon. you would then move your miners out to another expansion or just decom them.
maybe this station could be different per race. so for the klingons they love weapons, so they may fit it with guns. the borg one may be slightly more efficient. maybe the romulan one could cloak the moon if cloaking generator is built
imagine your enemy's surprise when they go looking for your mining but cant find it. i dont really like that idea, i just think it sounded funny.
the rationale behind this is that when you have a secure base (likely only your main starting base) you would build a better mining facility there. by late game you might have these structures only on your main base moons. if its a long game you may have them on your expansions if you think you can defend them properly.
Alternatives
a simpler idea that i also would like to throw out there is of a simple miner upgrade. a research on a later game research station would allow miners to be upgraded. kinda like perfect logistics, but of course perfect logistics could use a little boost to make it more useful. i like the idea of refining res on the way like perfect logistics, to make miners more productive.
this idea would be useful later game to increase resources coming in to rebuild large fleets of late game units fast.

I actually really like the first two ideas. I think, for the feds anyway, you could make good use of those pylons on the sides of the station which arn't used for anything atm.
As for the second idea, it would be really cool to do something like a deep space mining station where you can build turrets(3 or so) onto the station inorder to protect them. all you do is build the station, which builds mining ships, and can build its own turrets. it could be the equivalent of an outpost

Hmm good ideas but i dont think that everyone should be able to do all of these things. If you break it up some like maybe the federation would be able to process the dilithium at their starbase and the borg mining would have a place for two ships to unload at once, while the ever expensive romulans could get the mining upgrade. The mining station has been confirmed for the cidan as well.

hmmm that would work i guess. but we've seen the feds build mining stations on moons in voyager.
keep in mind that we have to keep it balanced too, if each race gets there own way of mining then it gets hard to keep it balanced.

I've been watching this game develop for some time now. For what it's worth, I think a combination of the 3 would be very appropriate. Mining ships could travel in convoys that a player escorts to one of the bases.

true but in the new patch everones turrets are different so im thinking it can be done.

i like the borg 1 station = can refine dilth/trit idea
i don't like idea of everyone being able to build station around the moon
i think that 'deposit onto starbase' should be resource costly meaning you need some sort of research on your starbase
not all maps give you a starting moon pair when you start

yeah. it should require some kind of mining upgrade for the starbase to be able to refine resources

thats the opposite of my idea lol. my idea of the starbase having basic mining facilities was for early game mining. because the starbase wont be fully dedicated to mining it will be less efficient than later game mining. but enough to get you started.

maybe you would have to sacrifice the weapons systems on the station in order to do it though.
