Is it possible to implement the mining of asteroid fields?

Picture this:

Map: Nirvana (8P with all players allocated a section of the map partitioned by asteroid fields)

Ok, so obviously every has there own section. If you could select certain rocks as mineable, then you could slowly mine through towards the enemy base. This adds a new form of resource, as well as tactics to prevent players from mining through.

Interesting, though the problem is that mining naturally requires orbiting space. Though I personally wouldn't mind mine-able terrain. Though the main issue would be that you'd be removing the strategy in RTS.  :pinch:

Not really, it's a simple matter to leave out the blocking trigger for that area. No different to the 'door' from one of the 8-player stock maps.

Think what he meant was that if you were trying to "mine" your way through a blocking asteroid field, there'd be no way or your miners to orbit the asteroid placement because of the blocking triggers.

The Blocking triggers can't go away unless there's a specific trigger set up in the map to take it away for some reason.  The Asteroids are just eyecandy ^-^.  It's the blocking trigger that matters.

Which is what I meant by leave out the triggers... did I say anything about removing existing ones? I don't remember that.

Oh.

Well if you leave out the triggers then there's nothing stopping you from going through the asteroids as if they weren't there.

No reason to "mine" them to get through if you can already gt through.

  See the catch-22?  :D

Which is also why I said 'for that area'. Not all would be minable (space junk), so the regular trigger works for most parts with full minable ones as their own smaller block.

The size of the current trigger would probably prevent you getting close enough to mine in the first place.
