one thing that i noticed while playing fo is that the ships are so pitifully weak... :huh: why is this. some of the so called battle ships just get taken out so easily its almost funny.
if this is true for version 3 can the creaters put in some sort of armour upgrade....... oh and secondary weapons for all ships ... an Akira with just a phaser :huh: :cry:

Well there are already shield upgrades and weapon and engine and sensor and life support upgrades. Shield and weapon are awailable for all races the other 3 differ from race to race.


the point to fleetops is not just build battleships as fast as possible, but to use all ships in your strategy as some ships are better against other.....

i know but some of the so called heavywieghts of the st universe (soveriegn neghvar akira to name a few) were just horribly weak u end up building quite a few to make up for the ones that get destroyed. :unsure: :( :hmmm:

sovereign is to weak I agree, akira is as she needs to be :) --->as strong as vorcha for example :P


Neghvar is not as much a battleship as she is a battleship killer with its short range and very high torpedo damage :)
Also note that klingons mainly use cruisers in their fleets, only a few battleships :)

i agree the soves is too weak , although i played a2 sp and i was shcoked at how strong the enterprise was in it :0

Sovie was A LOT more sucky in A2 than it is in beta2, even galaxy was stronger than sovie :)

yes but that's all incoorporated in a game, it can't be realistic! i mean stations(bases) are 2 weak, ships get destroyed 2 easily, but if we changed that, the game would most problably not be as cool as it is

As we did between beta1 and beta2 we reworked our complete balancing table for Fleet Operations v3. Every ship should now be more important and - to be honest - most battle ships got a bit harder to kill :)

Well in nemesis enterprise lasts forever...just seems like thats how it should work, ships could go derelict before they would get blown up.

We are currently thinking about adding a second special ability to the sovereign which increases it's shield regenartion for a while in exchange of firepower.. bit this will still have to be balanced and validated :)

makin ships go derelic b4 blowing up would make the mod less playable :unsure:

every ship may as well fire the phyonic blast (shadow spec weapon) instead of phasers/disrupters. :(

well if you take a look at some of the series, ships often loose their sheilds b4 they get 2 damaged to be spaceworthy, but the ship with no sheilds is still being a pain in the ass, well i think i have the perfect solution!! make crew more mortal(i mean the ship CAN'T be destroyed with all hands aboard, many would get killed in hull breaches and plasma coil explosions etc. also it would be nice if lifesupport systems failure would kill crew quicker, ibelive it would make the game more realistic, if it would kill crew by fiiring at a ship without sheilds
