Yeah! It's a simple idea to make a mercenary station on the map.

This station cannot have any crew (0 crew) and any player or AI can conquer it and buy a lot of ships.
Can put a crew limit of 100.

An the fleet can include ship from Cardassia (Galor and Keldon), Barzan, Orion, Hirogen, Ferengi (D'Kora Class Marauder), Kazon, altered Federation ships, outdated Andorian ships, a limited number of Species 8472 Eggs to create a powerful bioship (Limit of 2 Bioships) and more ships from other Races.

It can be called Ferengi Mercenary Station, because Ferengi deal with a lot of races, finds ship derelicts and other items like a sleeper Species 8472 Egg out of fluid space.

A nice idea, however I wouldn't have 8472 in it, as they wouldn't work for another species plus they would unbalance the game too much. Though I really like the idea of Ferengi, Cardassian, Orion and other Alpha Quadrant minor species. The Deltra Quadrantm with the expection of perhaps the Hirogen are a bit of a stretch.

8472 doesn't seem like a mercenary race, but some of the other races from the Delta Quadrant may be available. We are talking about 20-30 years in the future e.g. the Iconians have returned and with them gate technology or perhaps the Romulans found a stable wormhole into the Delta Quadrant (Star Fleet would mine/destroy it fearing the Borg)

Ok, i agree the Species 8472 is an independent race and can unbalance the game.

A mercenary station can turn the game strategy bigger and enjoyable.
We can see altered Federation ships for example, Hirogen ships, Orion Pirates, Cardassian, Ferengi ships and more.

The mercenary station may have 2 classes of ships.

1 - Cheap ships with medium/low firepower and defense. (Frigates. Destroyers, Light Cruisers).
2 - Expensive ships with high firepower and defense. (Heavy Cruiser, Battlecruiser, Battleship and Dreadnought).

And of course, we can see many NPC ships you can buy at Mercenary Station. It's a great idea, because you can have access to NPC ships and icrease the size, strategy and variety of your fleet.

Call me crazy, but Dreadnoughts (at least modern ones) do not suit mercenaries in my opinion.
If any of the named races could afford a vessel the size of a Dreadnought then this would be part of their regular military and not from mercenaries.

Cruiser sized vessels max IMO.

That makes two of us. Mercenaries wouldn't like to pay loads and loads of their earned stuff for a superbig battleship while they could afford several small ships.

Remember that pirate-ship in "Gambit"?  :whistling:

I vaguely remember the episode, but not the vessels.

If I recall correctly (it's been a while), this was mentioned as something on the to-do list. I wouldn't hold my breath for implementation any time before 4.0, though; there are at least 100 tasks that need to be completed first.

For the captured Merc.  they should only have a repair Function. No getting ships  from their  ship yards, or at a very slow build time . Any playable Merc crewed station should be limited to Cruisers and destroyers for 99.5% of their fleet. If anything  the ships available  should be  small to medium in size. No capital ships , because  as previously stated  why  by 1 uber ship when you can have 10 for the same cost  and have more firepower and hurt less it you lose one ship ? If any thing may be add like a Warp in for the merc vesels limiting it to Small and medium vessels 99.9 out of a 100 of the times a ship returns.

Actually, the mercenary stations were initially envisioned as a place to buy ships from NPC races. It would also allow all races to use carriers on some level (courtesy of the Hydran Kingdom, who will be a very fighter-heavy race).

Keep in mind that many of these details were originally thought up around the time Beta 2 was released, so there's a good chance that the actual implementation will differ significantly. But even then, I don't see the team allowing themselves to be chained by the absurdly limiting proposal you've put forth.

It can be similar to Star Wars: Empire at War.

It was a modified Miradorn-raider.

About the size of a Pirate ship

The Pirates can make a battleship composed of stolen parts from different derelict ships.

It's possible, isn't it???

Possible, but probably not worth the time and effort. Stealing a small and fast ship from a depot would probably serve them better in the long run.
