Mercenaries

Since we have confirmed the inclusion of mercenaries in the game, would it be feasible to specifically allow only certain specific races as mercenaries to a certain specific player race.

To flesh this out a bit:

feds:
-Detapa council militia
- Ferengi (not as fighting ships, but as bringers of research and bonuses)
  or instead of the Ferengi we could have Tholians.


Dominion:
- Gorn
- Cardassian dissident militia

Romulans:
- Tholians
- Obsidian order Cardies (including keldons with cloaks).
- maybe even Remans (if included)

Klingons:
-tholians with differnt stats (even differnt ships to the rom tholians)
-Gorn mercenaries

Borg - no mercenaries. they assimilate and do not care for "hiring" or allies.
-- maybe 8472 sa recently suggested in another thread. but 8472 destroys all in sight as it did in A2.

Noxter - too - insects, no communications as we know it - so no mercenaries.

** besides the borg have a hard enough time as it is, in getting resources to build their own ships**

Each mercenary will have its own stats for each race that hires it.
For example, the gorn hired by the Klingons will have different stats to the Gorn hired by the Dominion for example.
we could also have unique ship classes available for each mercenary race, for each player race that hires them - so the Dominion Gorn would have different ships being available for hire to the Klingon gorn for example.

Any ideas?

Naussicans, they are a mecenary must. Cardassians are more likely to assist the Federation than the other races (they probably dislike them the least) and wouldn't assist the Dominion, no matter how militant they may still be. The whole 'Genocide' thing, and all.

There also Yridians how where known giving the location of the last of the humans to the zindi and in TNG they appeared from time to time and one on a DS9/TNG episode with wolfs father morge roomers.

Ex Astris Scientia - Races with Changing Faces - Other Races

Yridians may be good for the Romulans.

The Voth could be called in time to time. Ex Astris Scientia - Sexual Dimorphism of Star Trek Aliens or and even the Benzite's

Gorn and Tholians are not in the timeline any more for some resign not expanded in star trek.

I just used the names as examples. Regardless of which race is adopted, the principle should still stand :)

With the Dominion wouldnt it be more interesting to give them a Gamma quadrant race we havent seen as a mercenary (they wouldnt necesarily be getting their mercs in the alpha quadrant given their general lack of popularity there.

Besides, wouldn't the Gorn be more Federation friendly? The Dominion can have those Gamma Quadrent Hunters from early that DS9 episode.

Well theses Dom that are in Fo are alfa quadrant transplants.

The Dom in the game are the dom that was left behind after the Dom/cardy war.
