Map objects

Hello,

Do we have any maps in the list with map objects on them. I remember seeing the feature listed as a todo item before the release, and dont see it any more.
Discussions were going around that we would get the scimitar as a map object and maybe some other derelicts like the V2 maps have.
Do we have anything happening in this regard, or am I missing something?

That's someting for the map-makers around here  :thumbsup:
At least when I will have finished "The Abandoned" some day it will have lots of map-objects  :innocent:

It's not that hard to add them to an existing map though. Maybe you'll give it a try ;)

One of the maps has a bunch of Klingon Turrets on it. I don't know of any others.

Hence my question. do we have any plans to put map objects on some of the maps provided with V3.
I know this was discussed and was even on the "to do" list in the "progress" list.

Do the mods have any update on this?

I also got some ideas for further map objects. I find many maps of FO are quite similar and a bit boring, due to the fact, that there aren't much things to add. Of course, the nebulas are fine and the asteroids look great, but nevertheless it is a bit empty out there. I think what is missing are some anomalies and stuff.
Some ideas:
-  black holes like in Armada 1
- moving Asteroid Belts(in my opinion they were a very good feature, making the maps more alive)
- neutron stars (damaging ships)
- pulsars (blocking sensors)
- suns/ stars ( I know, there are suns, but they are only nice-looking background, they coul also damage ships because of the heat)
- ion storms
- several anomalys disabling different ship systems or special weapons

Furthermore it would be nice, if there were some lifeforms, for example the Calamarain, Gomtu or the Cristalline entity(don't know what it is really called in English  :sweatdrop:).
I'm really happy about the NPCs you want to install in further releases, they are a big step towards unique maps  :thumbsup:  :thumbsup:.

Some people on Filefront also made wrecked Ships and Stations as map objects (some that you could mine), maybe FO could do something like that? It could be useful for maps set at a certain time or ones with NPC Breen/Tholians, etc.

This was something I was also disappointed with, the lack of map objects and NPC related things on maps. I'm confident they will work on such things in the future release, but at the moment we have to work with what we got. I mostly agree with adding space born life to some maps. I still think Species 9341 (the giant germs from A1) were one of the most original races every made in a star trek game, and it would be really awesome if they were included on several maps to hinder player progress. Also, a map with the Crystalline Entity wondering around it would totally make my day.

At the moment I'm working on a series of maps with Breen NPC's on it. The bad news is the AI wont work online because it causes gamespy to read fleet ops as a different version from others, even when both people have the same files installed. I'm hoping to release the AI in instant action to showcase how NPC races are an awesome addition to maps (and to hopefully influence the Fleet Ops team to work more on the NPC races for the next release, though I doubt it...)
