Well, IIRC it looks like the tri-cobalt-devices were launched from the Voyager's torp launchers, so they probably had a photon-torpedo-like casing.
DITL (NOT my favourite source of canon information, but okay in this case) describes the tri-cobalt-devices as having a tremendous firepower (enough to make caretaker go boom), but releasing their energy rather slowly, so they're not that effective against shields.
But why is a ship like Voyager (which was not built as a warship) equipped with these devices?

On a side note: First Contact torpedoes are the best.

as far as i can remember: Tri-Cobalt Torpedoes are called once "subspace" weapons and everyone know that "Subspace" weapons are not allowed! Officially. Anyway. In the Yoyager episode with that fast spinning mega-planet, where the citiziens believed, that Yoyager was a new god, the Starship got attacked by Tri-Cobalt Torpedoes.

Anyway back to the poll: as far i can remeber in First Contact there was no trail but those "star" like animations. So those "star" thingies would be cool. but I think in normal zoom level it would either look stupid or no one could see it.

Only 2 of them ever used, not torpedos but powerful weapons used only once.

I like the torps we have now as well...maybe we could adjust the color slightly to make them look more like they did in Nemesis...although there isn't a real big difference from FC to Nem...just the sound when they fire is different..I like the sounds in FC much better..and I like the Photon torpedo sound from Insurrection better than the one from Nemesis...but the Nemesis sounds are growing on me..
One wonders why the Enterprise didn't swing her bow around and use the quantums on the Son'a....I guess Riker didn't want to destroy them just disable them...even though using the Metreon Gas did destroy one of the So'na ships anyways. It's amazing we saw phasers and quantums in FC, phasers and photons in Insurrection and all three in Nemesis..I guess Starfleet finally decided to equip their flagship with all the weapons she is supposed to carry...

remember that the son'a could keep using their subspace weapon. and the enterprise-E
had her shields failing

Because Women could not go to the seas because they were once thought to cause bad luck/wind/storm and et cetera. Since they could not board a ship, the ships became feminine to have a symbolic meaning to the men that the women are with their journeys.. or w/e :D

i like the older torps with the big red energy relise in fact torps were oraganly whait and in wok tjh and uc the torps were realy powerful one alone could criple a bird of pray personaly i have a request for ewpons to bring more realium to the game hhow about you add more wepons but weehen them so they do less damage and than the sovrign would fire like 6 phasers ans 3 torps at once a war dird would have 5 disruptors one pulse dis ruptor and 1 plasma the Neg var would have 8 disruptors ane 3 pulse disruptors and 3 torps of corse the fused cube would have like 12 phasers and 2 gt the tavara would have 4 pulse disruptors 10 disruptors and 2 plasma the decent would have 6 torps and 8 phasers ho and in V 4 could you give the klingons a new super ship

Firing so many weapons at once (especially beams) is simply ugly. No ship should fire more than two phasers (or equivalent beam weapons) at once, methinks.

Yeah 2 Phasers for each ship should be limit, but you should be able to fire torpedos realistically also.

Hello energy consuption... Firing more than 2 phasers at once, thats gotta be a huge drain on power for any one time.

It is but firing 2 short bursts like in Nemesis instead of 1 long one like we are now...it's about equal power wise, and the burst way would be cooler.

in Nemesis thay did not know wher to shoot so thats why thay shot smaler berts. so if thay hit thare torget that whood continu foring with biger bersts.

It was also to save energy, because you will notice how they still did it once the Scimitar lost it's cloak.
