Make diamond a support ship?

Borg don't have any true support ships, and are one of the few races to have only one (rommies i presume is only temporary).

So why not give the diamond support ship status to make them a bit more complex, i.e. extra damage vs adai etc.

maybe only a diamond with certain modules. so queen and holding modules count 2 points each towards support ship status, regen counts 1 point towards support ship status, beam and torp add nothing. then require a tally of points. so 3 queen 1 holding is 8 points. 3 queen 1 regen is only 7 points. maybe require 6 points for the status. so stuff like 2 queen 1 holding 1 torp would get it.

a 1 torp 1 beam 1 regen 1 holding isnt exactly a support ship in role.

The Borg have a support ship, the Dodec counts as one for passives and gets support abilities with the Vinculum modules. The Diamond also acts like one with the Diamond module, it just isn't classed as one for passives.

Exactly my point, it seems to be very similar to the dode in the various roles it plays. A double intercept dode isn't exactly a support ship either though is it.

Plus the borg have too many ships that don't have a ship type.

Why not give it either or Nanite or Assimulator module ?  Or give it a  special to boost Assim./nanites rates for other ships  for say 4 seconds.

I wouldn't mind an assimilation module that gives it the same 'Area Board' passive as the Incubation Centre.

in case you forgot... support ships = faster/higher regenerative energy

so in conclusion you are asking the diamond to have an almost infinite amount of energy to spam it's special abilities (if researched or obtained through mod.)

that doesnt apply always. look at the dode. it cant spam specials. the leahval cant spam them infinitely. making some diamond combos supports wouldnt mean changing their stats (as diamonds with lots of queen modules/holding modules already have a high energy regen rate). it would just mean changing their passive calcs against adai. and letting shrikes blast them while cloaked

im against this because the borg need to have an combat ship early on to smack down adai. the norway/leahval/canaveral/dodeca/qawduj/c11 are your ways to tank/slap down stuff like bug and intrep spam. the combat dodecas (inter inter or inter regen) need to count as supports.

They why not the same with the diamond? Seems better than being nothing. The assimilator could do with a ship type too.

if u give the assimilator a ship type it would probably be cruiser, but the problem there is that they only have 1 destroyer and would have loads of cruisers, and stuff like anti cruiser warheads could be an issue. i dont think giving all the borg ships types is necessary as their ships are unique and dont fit these types perfectly.

the diamond isnt gonna be used to beat ships on counters. because 1 diamond is a massive investment, like multiple intreps. after u start building the diamond they can easily switch to another ship type without adai. u cant use something so powerful for counters because they can always see it coming and avoid it.

the difference with the dodeca is that its earlier on, it is still annoying to make a dodeca and they switch to monsoons immediately though. that lack of ability to counter effectively will be amplified with the diamond.
