And I think FO does need no more fed-vessels than mentioned on the dev's to-do-list, because these are already many for a RTS and it will be difficult enough to give most of them really or at least quite unique roles.

ture, two words, MAP OBJECT :woot:

yeah that is a good point, and as nice as the ship is, i'd rather have Dev unique fed vessels rather than a design like this.

Three words in response: Already too many!

Look at the project progress and tell me how many fed-map-objects are already there when there appear to be none at all for any other race but the Borg (Command Cube) and NPC-races.  :sweatdrop:

Edit: The Luna Class also did nothing in canon that's worthy of honouring it with placing the corresponding map object in the game

Many words: The command cube will be a playable unit, and for other races, you will have:
(note, these are on the list over there)
Krenim Timeship
T'kon warship
Kazon vessels
Borg Base from SFC3
Zeich's Cardassians

And we will get a whole plethora more when we get the enviroment redo.

but yeah your proobly right, to many feds things.

Who said that? I think the Command Cube will be a map object. Map objects can become playable, too.

Dominus_Noctus Guide to Fleet Ops wrote:Designation: Command Cube

The most powerful Borg vessel is the Command Cube. One of these vessels was once able to destroy 39 Federation starship in its attempt to assimilate Earth. The Command Cube is a very special adaptation to long range weaponry. It is equipped with a very powerful slicer beam, which is capable of breaking through all known armor and inflicting massive damage to the interior of a ship. Such a slicing beam can even cut whole parts of a starship off. The Command Cube will be returning to Fleet Operations very shortly, although it is still in the planning stages. It will be incredibly expensive (also requiring Collective Connections) and be very high in the Borg technology tree. It will also feature the same "module customization" as other Borg units, although the modules will be unique to the Command Cube. The developers want this vessel to be very customizable - if you want a vessel capable of assimilating battleships, or if you need a big shield-vessel ... it has no definite role.

AHA!!!!! lololol :D

Well the only way I see being able to get more units into the game would be to make certain ones avatar specific and drop of a unit of similar type / role.

I personally prefer really diverse avatars. Even though the feds have an abundance of canon vessels to choose from, the Luna is a vessel that I think should make the cut. However I do feel that its inclusion should remain secondary to the "canon" starship classes.

I agree, we should at the most include only 1 or 2 more ships that are universal (not avatar-specific) per race. There was alot of talk earlier about getting rid of either the Intrepid/Akira for Risner and having the Luna replace it; however, trading in either of these vessels will irreparably damage Risner forces. If a ship had to be replaced, I'd rather it be the Canaveral, for these reasons:

1. Since the Luna would most likely become a support ship, you wouldn't be losing a dedicated fleet filler like what would happen if another ship is replaced.

2. The Luna and the Canaveral already have similar roles as sensor ships, each with their own unique advantages and disadvantages, thus adding more variety to the battlefield.

3. The Canaveral's abilities are pretty powerful as it is, having both these ships in your fleet would require more vessels all around to keep things in balance. Having either one or the other would help to keep things in balance, and hopefully not require a whole new series of ship types for each and every race :)

Well, i'm a borg player, you can't just bring up my baby and hope i don't derail the thread to worship the command cube, you just can't..... thats like telling Zaxxon up there that he could never again watch star wars or BSG.....

On the main off topic point, your right, i didn't see the part where you said NPC races, my bad.

the difference is that I could live without watching star wars and bsg again(albeit unpleasantly), but you would die If the Devs got rid of the borg. :D

Well how about making it an antares yard vessel with just one special support ability and one ability that is centered on the luna class itself. That would give the luna the ability of being not only a support ship since we already have one fed support ship.
Maybe one more special ability suggestion: Something that can increase the hull stability for 70% of the luna class for 5 sec against beam weapons. Since federation has generally the biggest reliance on shields.
If this seems overpowered make it limited to 20 or 30 ships perhaps.

Ive noticed that particular problem too that there are a lot of fed ship possibilities.
But if the luna doesnt make it in the game soon we could also save that nice ship for the 2 upcoming fed avatars that leavit guy.. or may be even for a vulcan avatar since this is an exploration vessel.
