i can see from the project milestone list that you are half way through wine support for FO, any idea on how long this will take or is there an alternative way to get it running, i want to move away from windows as soon as i have a little more knowledge of linux.

i also feel this feature has the potential to bring a large amount of new players to the game:).

i can't give a time schedule for this. the wine's project goal is to let windows applications run the same way they would on real windows. so in theory it is their job to fix up the underlaying libraries so that fleet operations runs under wine.
however as they probably get a lot of other work on their hands than to include all fixes for fleet operations, i am trying to fix up some 'non-standard' stuff that is broke or not implemented in wine to replace with more 'standard' implementations or fallbacks in case something fails that usually shouldn't fail.
anyway, all these changes are on low priority. i already did some work on it for the upcoming fo version though

The main problem I've had is Tunngle. Once it works in Linux, you can bet on me using Windows a lot less.

I haven't run windows for years. If you have a problem, ask the forum, or PM me. Otherwise, just try installing it. You'll probably need a No-CD patch (legal in the US if you own the original CD still), but other than that, I have very few problems. As Nebula said, Tunngle does not work. There is a way to do it under Linux, as the Tunngle just replicates a built in function that linux has (its basically a VPN right?), so you should be able to get Linux to do it without installing much. but I have no clue how to get it to work. I just play over lan or with the (not too smart) AI

yes, tunngle is not available for other OSs than windows. atleast the tunngle developers said that they consider clients for other platforms
