How come that the Klingons don't have any decent long range beam weapon ships?
(All those micro torpedoes... yaaaaak  )

All others have great long range ships:
-Dominion: S 7, C 17, T 15, (Breen BB)
-Romulans: Cehlaer, Rhienn (excellent ship if many)
-Federation: Excelsior, (Phalanx)

I want long range disruptors!

And another thing... How come Neghvar, Sovereign and similar ships have such low / medium range? Such capital ships have the biggest weapons arrays and are the most powerful ships... and they have low/medium range? Most smaller ships should have smaller range. It would still not be realistic (that's not the issue here), but it would be logical and all those big, expensive ships would have some meaning, so when you see them coming, you would freeze to death.
(now we just scramble a few Rhienns or some other low cost long range ship and sigh due to lack of excitement)

And starbases... they really should throw more of a punch.

Ufff, there i said it...

I hope you'll take me seriously, since i really like FO (and making maps for it) as a game, as a ST game, it is no doubt still the best A2 conversion and is even therapeutic.

sleep??? how dare you, go make some more maps :D j/k
i do agree that particually the neg'var should have at least medium range weapons. if all battleships are made long range, then those would be the only ships that people would build after they have been unlocked. but like i said about the negh'var, having short range weapons puts it at a severe disadvantage against the other races battleships.

Concerning the Klingons, I don't think, they need long-range weapons. In my opinion, it is not very Klingon to fight your enemy out of a secure distance. At least artillery-range weapons would be strange.
So I don't mind them having more short/medium-range weapons.

But regarding the balance weapon-range/ship-class, I think you're right. At last, I don't understand why there is a difference at all - but for reasons of gameplay there have to be those differences. I suppose

well, since the nehvar is **** powerfull it has to have some dissadvantage, short range is fine.

no, way. it is not as powerful as the others because it is short range. medium range should be standard for battleships. why is the tavara not short range? that has basically no weakness at all. your best hope of destroying that is to swarm it and (hope) it has so many targets that it cant destroy/capture them all.
the neghvar, all you gotta do is get long or medium range ships and shoot it before it gets into range to shoot you. there is no way 5 sabers should take out a negh'var without a single loss in return -_-

Exactly Cpt Ryan...

(Close combat is meant to be man to man, Klingons are supposed to be fierce, not stupid!)

Anyway, i can modify it for myself, but i thought it would be beneficial for everyone.

Thanks for your insights everyone.
