During team games (2v2, etc), it's often beneficial to hear what one's opponents are saying. As a crazy idea, if you could build some sort of structure that allowed you to 'intercept' your opponents chat (even when you are not selected as a chat recipient), that would be interesting :)

(not to mention, a counter eavesdropping option.... :D )

(yes I know it's crazy [meaning it would be almost impossible to put into the game] - but it's a fun idea :) )

Sounds very Romulan.

well it sounds nice but i fear it will cause more trouble than positive effects. Just a feeling for now.

Sounds interesting. I would make it a Romulan special station so that you have to choose between cloaking your stations, detonating ships, or listening to your enemies. Maybe make it so you can only listen to one player at a time.

i think it belongs in the intel centre. maybe it could be added, and sabotage nerfed a bit. so sabotage fails more and only does damage rather than kills.

Not sure how useful such a thing could be, or even if it'd be wise to implement it. Harder to work as a team when you have to mince words for fear of spies. lol

It'd be its nature become less useful the more players in the game. With a 2v2 odds are good that you'll be bale to hear most of both players if you spam it.

An interesting idea - but it could either be completely useless (aka, people using mics), or so useful that it turns the tide of the game itself. I don't quite like supremely unpredictable abilities, even though it is cool.  :sweatdrop:

I think a more "realistic" way to do this would be to show your enemy's 'plans': I.E. to show what buildings are going to be built (aka, showing the wireframe like on an ally) or to show "targeting lines" - where your opponent's move orders are :)

lol Dom, thats even worse.

How so? You could make it last for any length of time you wanted, and it would be actually strategic - rather than relying on a strictly random and (usually) useless variable  :sweatdrop:

i dont really like it because it means that i cant talk about my opponents anymore....

i prefer's dom's idea of where buildings are being constructed, and fleet movement ( going to )

A couple of times I've purposefully re-activated full chat, in an attempt to sow false information. Sadly, the only time that worked, the reply was "ur ally chat isnt on!!!"...  while they rushed to defend the mining platform I was pretending to attack.  (to their credit, we still eventually lost)
