Inline Chat Warp-In

Post ideas and suggestions on new features or improvements here.

I just had an idea that a player could use the chat box to warp-in a ship that is only of the faction that they are playing as.  And only a single ship for a specific time interval.

Example, playing as federation:

"/warpin fed_nebulaA"

Once this command is given, the user clicks on the map where he/she wants the warp-in to go (like with starfleet command) and in a few seconds, it's there.

To prevent abuse of this, two new settings should be put in place for use on a per-game basis.  Actually, three settings.

1 - The host chooses whether or not the command is allowed.
2 - The host chooses how long after a game starts before the command is allowed if it's allowed at all.
3 - The host chooses how long to wait between warpins.  A multiplier based on how long the ship would take to build.  This would be " times ".

If the warp-in interval is set to 2x, then if a player warped-in a Nebula "scout", that player would have to wait 184 seconds before warping in any other vessels.  If the player warped-in a Sabre, using the same multiplier, than that player would only have to wait 138 seconds before warping in another vessel.

The initial time limit is mainly to prevent the Borg from warping in a tactical cube right-off the bat.  A Descent could do a ton of damage, but just one vessel couldn't take-out an unupgraded starbase, could it?

To prevent factions from becoming too powerful because of the initial wait time (which kind-of acts like a cease-fire setting), a faction could have a "WarpInCommandDelayMultiplier" in the faction.odf file so that each faction has to wait X amount longer based on the power of their most powerful vessel.

Just an idea to introduce a new feature without disrupting the balance very much.

But it also gives free ships to everyone else.

and what if you suffer from dyslexia????

Good like finding it easy to always order a ship in and how cumbersome, how would you even know what ships are available???? A construction system works just fine using a mouse...

Oh and another pain, what if your in the middle of micro managing a battle or get attacked mid typing command, you will have to choose between taking control or finishing your sentence????

i dont like this idea, especially the text based implementation.

I think warpin should stay unique for feds.

Imagine changing a battle by warping in a dread lol

Good points.  But I still would like to see it implemented as experimental.  Even if it's just for offline use.

What about lesser factions being able to Warp a few things in if they capture an SFC?

I like that idea.  But it would require some extra coding for the other factions to be able to use it.

Shouldn't be too hard, the base Warp-In file uses the same code as a replaceweapon. Namely; replacementXcondition = "Racename".

I dont see why anyone else should be able to warpin ships using an SFC however there is a way to do it just look at the constructors.
