Impenetrable Nebula / Shield upgrades

Post ideas and suggestions on new features or improvements here.

(and another random nebula idea)

It would be "interesting" if some nebula were initially impenetrable (i.e. can't move into them) until an upgrade (i.e. shield upgrade #1).

and / or


Allow the shield upgrades to negate one negative effect of a nebula per shield level. I.e. Shield level one prevents shields from being disabled in a nebula. Shield level two prevents damage or sensor failure.

Aaargh, getting hard to find all these ideas - shoulda bundled them I think :P

Cool idea nonetheless - not sure how useful it is for normal gameplay, but could be interesting as maybe being impenetrable for a few minutes, then suddenly easy to pass through. Gates of hell!  :whistling:

would reallz like it, ut there is one that already does this kinda; the one that does damage and stuff which is only penetrable  with bigger ships and better shields...

Well, gameplay wise it could work like the high ground in SC. You can't get to it until you tech up (in SC, that meant getting air, in FO, it could be an upgrade). When you are in it, and your opponent can't get in, you've got an advantage (you're safe). You could be running from a larger fleet ... you could be firing from it... possibly other strats...

personally i think it would be better if the upgrade would only effect your shield for like 60 seconds? maybe more ?  but  right now i think nebula's are great for strategy and i want to make them great for strategy for big ships in late game as well  :thumbsup:
