stock tachyon scan was kinda boring lol. no effect or technique, just research it and keep a scout with your fleet lol
i dont mind the venture getting a ping, just a normal ping, with perhaps a slightly smaller range than now.

no fuss no mess, such complixies are tiresome sometimes, cant just make it easy, there must be other ways of making the job less time consuming so you can just get on with the game
. still the beauty of the mod, hopefully over time it will get easier as ideas simplify... or become even more complex and less newbie friendly and even more frustrating..
the scout is ok as it is, the green scan is a cloaked ship detector and the blue is what? a ping?

the green ping can detect all cloaked ships, the blue ping can detect most cloaked ships.
some ships (talon, bortas, tavara with system upgrade) can use an advanced cloak, which is not detected by blue ping.

the FO team said each ship has its own unique function or similar words to that effect, the scout was given the adv cloak for a reason, so if its removed off the scout, then what exactly would use the adv cloak detect in the feds? the talon could just sit their while someone tries in vein to uncloak the scout, sounds a bit to op to me to give the romulans the advantage like that. hopefully you got another ship in mind or another station in mind that can detect adv cloaked ships. after all cloak is just light bending technology which is useless against ionizing particles and tachyon scans.
putting that burden on the nebula class warp in is not good enough unless the warp in guarantees exactly 1 would warp in in the very first group. if that doesnt work for the FO team, then the only other ship class that could do it with the biggest deflector dish and next biggest science lab is the galaxy class and that that is warp-in as well.
this scout idea works in tandem with the nebula variant idea? the nebula class itself is not a sensor beast its a pure science vessel, not designed for combat but has to be armed for bear so its research isnt destroyed. i suppose it could be done and the more power it has the higher priority target it will be and there is no guarantees that the ship would be any stronger then the nebula at this point in 3.12, that is weak even vs other level 1 ships. sounds good for that, but how much energy would be used and how big is its special energy reserve?
