Hello all!

I was playing some Age of Mythology: The Titans today for a study break and I think I have come up with some cool ideas for the Iconians and make them a distinct and fun race.

If anyone has played the expansion before, you will know of Kronos, who is the God of Time. He has some pretty interesting abilities that could be placed in FO, even with the base code of the game. I will first give abilities that are in A2 itself and then ones from AOM that could be transfered:

1) Temporal drive: Basically the Transwarp drive that the Borg Interceptor has. Give it a new name, put a flashy effect on it, and make almost all the ships for the Iconians have it. To limit its power, make it suck special energy.

2) Temporal Stasis Field: the Premonition and Manihiem Station ability that freezes your enemies for awhile. Put it on one of the capital ships. Make it suck a lot of special energy.

3) Clairvoyance: Since the Iconians are Psionics, this could be an ability, which comes from the 8472 scout. See A2 manual for description.

4) Clairvoyant Link: Another 8472 ability from the Destroyer. See A2 manual

5) Psionic Disruption: 8472 Cruiser ability.

6) Psionic Insanity: 8472 Battleship ability. Very cool!

Here are some from Age of Mythology:

7) Temporal Deconstruction: Kronos' God Power gives him the ability to deconstruct an enemy building. The enemy gets the resources back. This weapon for the Iconian could do the same thing. I think there should be MAJOR limits on this one(lots of credits to research and construct, long build time, no deconstruction of main base(which is also a limit on AOM)). The application of this ability is that if someone has say, a competed Transwarp hub and ready to use it, you could buy some time by deconstructing it and making them build it all over again.

8) Temporal Shift: Kronos' Civilization bonus is the ability to move his buildings to alternate locations, for a cost of resources. Since the Iconians don't have resources, this may cause a problem. The way I can maybe see this ability work is to have a 'cost' of a long build time(which would make it so you can't move buildings all over the place on a whim whenever you are attacked) and at the end of the build time have the building deconstruct really fast and reconstruct to the other place really fast. This will give the illusion of time going out of whack.

Well, there you have it.

Again these are just ideas. Feel free to pick apart, praise, and throw tomatoes on them.

Very interesting ideas. I like the ideas of destorying the enemy base. But I think it would be hard to give the resources back to the enemy base. But it is an interesting idea. The idea of moving the bases doesn't seem to do much. Unless you need a quick escape.

Some of these ideas would be good, but not all. They would make the Iconians unbalanced.

Yeah it would be pretty unbalanced, almost as unbalanced as my idea for a temporal battleship the size of a starbase that fores temporal statis fields infinatly and fires pheonix missles from the origional A2 at any ship it sees ;)

Almost as unbalanced as my idea for a "Super-Sovereign" with 200-Damage, Shield-Piercing Phasers, 3 Rapidfire 1000 Damage Shield-Piercing Quantum Torpedo Launchers, Every Spec. Weapon in the game with no need for research and no Spec. Energy cost, 5000 Hull HPs, 6750 Shield HPs, and Rapidfire Temporal Stasis Fields as a normal weapon. And a buildcost of 1 D, 1 T, 0 Crew. :lol:

I made one of these for Original A2. It was very unbalanced. And the Special Weapons filled up the screen!

I think races need to stop being the same and start having advantages and disadvantages unique to each race. Each race being strong in a few areas and weak in others, but no two races the same. Right now they are all about the same, u can pic anyone and play out the exact same battle u could with any other race.

You guys are right of course, I never meant for the Iconians to have all these things. It would make them very powerful.

I was just curious as to how FO would display the Iconians time and psionic abilities to make them distinct and a different type of game play.

Overlord/Zeich: Your right, the moving of the base doesn't really do much. The only way I use it in AOM is to move resource buildings and as an escape from people destroying my base.

I want the iconians now, theyere like the best race from trek. As basic weapons they should have weapons like cronaton torpedos and a weapon that tries to push a ship out of existence, basicly a beam weapn that fires continuesly.

I play the fleet ops mod almost every day, it's just that all the races have basicly the same layout, none are all that unique. I am a big fleet ops fan.

I shall scream mindlessly at you. None of the races are the same.

Each race has a unique playing style. The Feds are an allaround race, Borg are anti-Large Ship, etc.

I think feds suck, they dont seem to have many advantages over anyone.

Yes. However, they have are an allaround race. You have a task force of Torpedo Cruisers? I shall blow them up with my long-range Excelsior IIs and Sabers in conjunction with Monsoons at close range. And don't forget about the Free Ships!!!

Those Excelsior 2s are vicious, they pop out torpedos like nobodys business. Fed ships are pretty powerful, maybe more then other races, thats how they stand up to the slightly weaker but more numorous and special weapon useing enemies.

And Sovereigns can disable engines. I stopped playing against the Federation due to this.
