Ok, so I really suck at this game, I don't know how to make mods or alter script, and I guess that I am not that great of a gamer, but I do have some ideas which might make the game a little more intriguing and realistic.
I have seen in some other space strategy games that when the opposing ships battle, there is movement involved...lol. What I am attempting to say is that, when opposing ships attack, instead of them just sitting their hurling weapons at each other until one is destroyed, why don't we make it so that the ships actually make strategic maneuvers in their battles, move to avoid torpedos, fire fore torpedos and then come about to fire aft, etc. If the ships actually moved around during combat, not only would it be more visually realistic and interesting, but it might also improve gameplay.
This is just an opinion, but it might be worth pursuing.
Thanks for reading! If you wish, any comments or ideas or criticisms (if they are useful) would be greatly appreciated.

welcome
the idea of ships moving around was present in stock a2, but i think for an rts its a bit much, its more fitting for single ship control such as bc. i dont know why exactly the devs removed it.

Welcome to the forums
. There is an old FAQ that covers this possibility briefly if that helps shed some light.

Thanks Dominus_Noctis!
I understand now why the maneuvering would cause problems.
Maybe a separate command (like the "attack" and "explore" commands) for "dogfighting" (when I say "dogfighting," I mean automatic movements, almost AI) would eliminate the danger of entering weapons range of an enemy outpost as well as other situations where this ability would prove harmful, because there are other situations where this "dogfighting" ability would be useful. What do you think?
