I was thinking one day, now A2 and the FO mod are great but something was wrong from the very beginning. When you lead ships into battle, they will stop moving once they get to the waypoint you set by a mouse click in battle or not. Now if you are in battle the ships will stop at the waypoint and attack the enemy, perhaps moving a little bit to get closer to the enemy, but thats it. What I wanted to do was make it so the ships fly around in combat, make it so theres toggles to make it so they attack directly, scoring more hits but also making themselves vunerable, use evasive manuvers to avoid torpedos, have a toggle for using only torpedos or beam weapons. I think it would be nice to bring in the ability to make ships go up or down but not as much as the original game. Now i'm in doubt over wether any of this is possible and especially after you guys turned down giving extremely weak weapons to the shuttles flying around the stations idea, if it was possible you'll turn it down. I know you guys dont like doing radical changes in any way but I guess it's just something to think about on future versions.

mh.. there was a mode similar to this in armada1..
i never checked it out, but i will try. perhaps it can be an option for beta4, but i will first have to test if it's possible ;-)

I if it was possible you'll turn it down.

you always seem so negitive when it comes to asking for things if you keep saying that i know nyou won't do this and you won't so that why are you even asking?

Because my first few requests were turned down immidiatly and they seemed like good ideas. Just because I request one thing dosent mean you can't experiment with it and change it. My first one was the shuttle idea. I mean whats wrong with the shuttles flying around the stations having really small phasers barly capable of doing damage to even the lightest ship? What I ask is only the basis of what im requesting, not exactly what I want. Just making the shuttles run away or dock when a station is under attack would be better then them flying around watching the fireworks...My other idea that got turned down on the spot also, new ways to find cloaked ships. I said maybe using phasers like the enterprise did in nemisis to find cloaked ships would be cool. That got turned down so I asked if the sensor range could be adjusted so cloaked ships could have a better chance. No luck there either. Thats why I say stuff like that, so maybe other people will have better luck then I do at requests.

sorry, i never ment to kill your ideas or sound unfriendly! this booth idears of you where just ones which have already been discussed by the Fleet Operations crew and therefore the result was clear :) but as you can see with the new ones we always discuss them

i think that was discussed back after the initial release of fleetops.

I thought that this option in A1 was called the Director's Cut or something like that(?), but I remember having ships dogfight a little bit.

In A2, there were a couple formations that you could assign to a fleet that would keep them moving about in a battle, though those seemed to affect the effectiveness of your ships more than the A1 option.

well all im gonna say is dont even think about Directors cut i spent weeks looking how to add it i finally accepted it cant be added into a2 because of the new Ai Pathing and attack patterns

I agree with TMP rules, moving ships WOULD be a lot cooler. Maybe you can modify the attack patterns which were already in A2, such as cloverleaf etc.

I know the exact line in what file this can be done in.

int CIRCLE_IN_PLACE_DURING_COMBAT = 0;

in RTS_CFG.h it should do the trick.
