Is it possible to get a Hotfix loader for odf errors and such?
The small blocking trigger thing made me think about it. Mainly it would be a central repository where fixed files can be stored by the community (selected members). From here we start a small programm that loads the files into FO and fixes things. that way we can fix small errors on our own and the devs have more time for bigger things.

I could make you an overwrite installer to overwrite all odf's in your current install of FO with stock ones from the current patch.3.1.5.
I can actually make an auto installer for that kind of stuff, so if you want a program that will patch FO with minor fixes and such, I can do that.

i think he means make an auto installer that will install simple fixes, such as copy the updated small blocking trigger over the stock 3.1.5 version, which is broken.
it would fix simple typos in odfs easily since they can be just copied over. i think the reason the devs dont do this is because it has the potential to get confusing, and new fo patches are no longer far apart under the new schedule, i bet 3.1.6 will be here in a couple weeks.

Well it will not be confusing...that fix loader is used to perform small updates...everyone that wants to fix his FO just hits the fix button...thats it.
The files for the fixes can be uploaded somewhere by trusted users. We vote for fixes that can be uploaded there so no crap gets there.

you mean something intregrated into fleetops, thats a lot of work.
if its a separate exe people have to download, it reduces fleetops accessibility to new players.

Yeah, I'm saying I could do that. Just release it as an unofficial hotfix

if you can do it, why not. The devs can't do anything about it and if its working well...then I don't see any reason not to do it
Just something that downloads and overrides the required files. We just need an accessible webspace for the odfs.

not sure what you mean by this, but if you let me know what needs to be fixed, I"ll do it and make an auto installer to replace the odf's with corrected ones.

Seems that its not clear what I want for the loader...
1. There is a repository where fixes are stored (like the small-trigger thing).
2. The loader grabbs all the files at the repository
3. The loader copies the stuff into your FO folder
That's all! The files in the repository are selected by the community...and before a major release the devs can grabb all the files there and merge them with their own...that way they don't have to deal with the minor bugs...

The things is, the devs don't go rummaging around in there files, they have a program that creates them all for them. Therefore I'm guessing it would be difficult for them to reintegrate all the separate files.

aye. we will try to cover necessary hotfixes with more frequent patches. the next patch just includes some necessary features that take a bit longer, should still be ready soon(tm)

They are so leet, they probably made their own IDE for modding A2. Aw man, that sounds awesome.
